CNN —A SpaceX mission due to take flight Saturday aims to unite the Boeing Starliner astronauts with the spacecraft that will bring them home. NASA’s Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore have already been on the International Space Station more than 100 days longer than expected. The two rode the Starliner to the International Space Station in early June for what was expected to be about a weeklong test flight. At liftoff, Hague and Gorbunov will be strapped inside the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, nicknamed Freedom, as it sits atop a Falcon 9 rocket. Gorbunov and Hague will join them after docking with the space station, set for Sunday.

A geoglyph of a humanoid with a headdress is one of the newly discovered symbols. Deciphering Nazca symbols’ purposeIt’s not clear why the Nazca people made the symbols. CNN —No trees have grown on the windswept Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic Ocean for tens of thousands of years — just shrubs and other low-lying vegetation. “It’s very sort of windswept and barren.”The Falkland Islands are a British-ruled overseas territory over which Great Britain and Argentina fought a brief war in 1982. But the story of this hidden forest goes back even further in time than the researchers initially thought. “The Falkland Islands are currently covered by grasslands and lack native trees,” Donovan added. However, the islands are unlikely to see a return to a forest landscape anytime soon, Thomas said.

A budget deficit occurs when a country’s spending exceeds what it collects in revenue, primarily through taxes. The deficit is expected to widen under the status quo and could get even worse under proposals by both Harris and Trump, if enacted. During the Trump-Harris presidential debate earlier this month, the budget deficit was mentioned just twice, when Harris jabbed Trump for his proposals, which are expected to add considerably more to the deficit than hers. In the 2021 fiscal year, during which Trump left office, the country ran a $2.8 trillion deficit.

The proposal by itself would not have been able to take full effect because lawmakers blocked another bill to create a reparations agency that would have reviewed claims. The California Legislative Black Caucus has backed a series of reparations packages in the state. The caucus cited concerns that the Legislature would not have oversight over the agency’s operations and declined to comment further on the reparations fund bill because it wasn’t part of the caucus’ reparations priority package.
