Oct 26 (Reuters) - Ford (F.N) autoworkers were set to head back to work after the United Auto Workers (UAW) union reached a tentative labor deal with the company late Wednesday. Ford was the first of Detroit's Big Three car manufacturers to negotiate a settlement to strikes joined by 45,000 workers since mid-September. The UAW will now turn its attention to talks with General Motors (GM.N) and Chrysler parent Stellantis (STLAM.MI). The UAW told Ford workers now on strike to return to their jobs during the ratification process. (AP) — Federal officials said Wednesday that conditions have improved on the Colorado River to the point that a plan by California, Arizona and Nevada to voluntarily reduce water use should help keep the river basin on stable footing for the next few years. The states failed to reach a consensus on cuts, and the federal government did not end up forcing any. The threat of those two options finally forced the three states to reach their own voluntary plan for how to reduce their use of the river's water. Already, the three states have lowered their water use, said Tom Buschatzke, director of the Arizona Department of Water Resources and the state’s representative on Colorado River issues. Now, the states can turn their attention to a new long-term agreement for how to share the river’s water beyond 2026.

(AP) — The Biden administration is designating 31 technology hubs touching 32 states and Puerto Rico to help spur innovation and create jobs in the industries that are concentrated in these areas. SYDNEY (AP) — A Sydney court on Monday postponed an extradition hearing for a former U.S. military pilot accused of illegally training Chinese aviators until May as his lawyers attempt to further build their case. Boston-born Dan Duggan, 55, was scheduled to fight his extradition to the United States at a Nov. 23 hearing in the downtown Downing Center Local Court. But a magistrate decided to use that date to rule on what additional information that the Australian defense department and security agencies should provide defense lawyers. U.S. lawyer Trent Glover told the court the United States was ready to proceed with the extradition, but had agreed with defense lawyers the hearing should take place after November. Duggan’s lawyers say they expect additional material will demonstrate the overtly political aspects of the extradition request.

The drill aimed to expand the countries' response capabilities against North Korea's nuclear and missile threats, South Korea's air force said in a statement. At the Camp David summit in August, leaders of Japan, South Korea and the United States agreed to carry out annual, multi-domain trilateral exercises and set up a hot line for crisis communications. Also on Sunday, South Korean and U.S. navies completed a joint anti-submarine exercise called Silent Shark, the South Korean navy said.

A strike on a house near the Jabalia refugee camp, in northern Gaza, killed several Palestinians and wounded others, according to media reports.
