The country’s new reformist President Masoud Pezeshkian campaigned on a promise to halt the harassment of women by morality police. In Iran, the hijab — and the all-encompassing black chador worn by some — has long been a political symbol as well. There have been scattered videos of women and young girls being roughed up by officers in the time since. Surveillance cameras search for women uncovered in vehicles to fine and impound their cars. Solo travel is my secret to a healthy marriage. Solo travel allows me to slow down and remove the power that life's demands can have. When I travel solo, I am forced to sit with myself and examine things that are boiling under the surface. It could also be said that we have both developed new love languages thanks to solo travel; it has created new ways for us to connect. Rather than fend off questions like my coworker's, I smile to myself because solo travel is my secret to a happy marriage.

CNN —SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn crew is beginning its fifth day in orbit, having marked a few record-setting milestones on a historic journey — including the world’s first commercial spacewalk. Polaris Dawn crew member and SpaceX engineer Sarah Gillis emerges from the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule during the first commercial spacewalk on Thursday. The Polaris Dawn mission's Crew Dragon capsule is seen Wednesday 870 miles (1,400 kilometers) above Earth — the farthest humans have traveled since the Apollo program over 50 years ago. The riskiest part of the journey may be over, but the Polaris Dawn crew still has a key milestone ahead: coming home. Gunmen killed 14 people in a Shiite-majority area in central Afghanistan, the Taliban said Friday, in one of the deadliest attacks in the country this year. A machine gun was used in the assault, the ISIS group said. The U.N. mission in Afghanistan said the attack resulted in numerous deaths and injuries to members of the Shiite community. A U.N.-appointed rights expert for Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, said he was alarmed by the spate of IS-claimed attacks. The “appalling killings” of Shiite Hazara bore the hallmarks of international crimes, said Bennett, whom the Taliban have barred from Afghanistan.

The Justice Department plans to file criminal charges in the hacking of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, two law enforcement officials told NBC News. The Trump campaign announced in August that it had been hacked. Later that month, federal officials said that Iran was behind the effort, which was part of an apparent hack-and-leak operation to spread files stolen from Trump’s campaign. Federal officials reiterated in a press call last week that the U.S. intelligence community believes Iran wants to hurt former President Trump’s campaign, whereas Russia wants to boost Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris. Google was more specific, and said that the hackers had gone after both the Trump campaign and President Joe Biden’s before he dropped out of the race.

Olson, who served more than 30 years overseas, had been intercepting sensitive Russian information that was being sent over microwave transmissions. For this series, Eamon Javers spent nearly a year investigating a criminal network and exploring how wealthy Russian hackers stole millions from U.S. investors. Javers interviewed FBI agents, prosecutors — and even spies like Olson — to reveal the shocking details of a massive criminal enterprise. Javers asked Olson what it feels like to go on such a mission, something he called "Mission Impossible stuff." "It's humbling because you have this sense that your country put that much trust in you to carry out that mission," Olson said.

Michigan and Wisconsin are looking like the best of the bunch for Harris, according to the campaign’s internal numbers. As pumped as Harris aides are about her debate performance earlier this week, they don’t think it changed any of that. “There’s a quiet confidence and security in what we’re doing and the mission, but no one thinks we have this in the bag,” said a Harris campaign aide. We’ll definitely be having some fun,” an Obama aide told CNN. The former president will kick off his work at a fundraiser he’s hosting for Harris next week in Los Angeles.

We could have gotten to the point, I believe, where we could have returned on Starliner,” he said. During an August 24 news briefing, NASA officials also indicated that Boeing disagreed with some of the space agency’s risk assessments. There was “just a little disagreement (between NASA and Boeing) in terms of the level of risk,” NASA’s Commercial Crew Program manager Steve Stich said. …And when you do things with spacecraft that have never been done before, just like Starliner, you’re going to find some things,” he added. “In this case, we found some things that we just could not get comfortable with putting us back in the Starliner.”

The Summary Boeing officials have made few public comments about the company's Starliner spacecraft over the last six weeks. Just over an hour after Boeing’s Starliner capsule made its uncrewed return to Earth, NASA convened a standard post-landing briefing to discuss the end of the tumultuous test flight. The capsule’s first crewed test flight, the mission was expected to last around eight days. The pair is scheduled to stay at the space station until February then return with members of an upcoming ISS crew. In 2019, an uncrewed test flight to the space station was cut short because of technical glitches and the company was forced to repeat it in 2022.
