According to the “Lovers & Friends” festival’s official website, “organizers have been monitoring the weather for several days and proactively preparing for a windy Saturday. CNN —An attorney discipline judge in California has rejected a request from ex-Trump election lawyer John Eastman to reactivate his law license following her recent recommendation that he be disbarred, which rendered him unable to practice law for now. Judge Yvette Roland, who oversees state bar proceedings in California, recommended in March that Eastman be disbarred for his election subversion efforts. The California Supreme Court will ultimately decide whether to endorse or reject Roland’s recommendation to disbar Eastman. “Eastman failed to uphold his primary duty of honesty and breached his ethical obligations by presenting falsehoods to bolster his legal arguments,” Roland wrote in her opinion recommending he be disbarred. He also was indicted last month in Arizona in connection with efforts to overturn the 2020 election, along with more than a dozen other Trump allies, including Mark Meadows and Rudy Giuliani.

In response, Exxon agreed to keep Sheffield off its board, the oil major said in a statement Thursday. The FTC alleged that Sheffield repeatedly held private conversations with high-ranking OPEC representatives to assure them that Pioneer and its competitors in the Permian Basin were working to keep oil output artificially low. CNN —President Joe Biden can ill afford a long, hot summer of protest that comes to a boil in time for the Democratic National Convention in August and then bleeds into the final weeks of an already venomous clash with Donald Trump. The nationwide campus protests are not as pervasive as mass civil rights and anti-Vietnam War protests that raged in the 1960s and 1970s. This has been especially testing for Biden — a staunch supporter of Israel dating back to 1970s Prime Minister Golda Meir. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy violated federal labor law in comments he made to media outlets about unionization efforts at the company, a National Labor Relations Board judge ruled Wednesday. NLRB Administrative Law Judge Brian Gee cited interviews Jassy gave in 2022 to CNBC's "Squawk Box," Bloomberg Television and at The New York Times' DealBook conference. At the DealBook conference, Jassy said that without a union the workplace isn't "bureaucratic, it's not slow." The NLRB filed the complaint against Amazon and Jassy in October 2022. But the Amazon chief's other remarks that employees would be less empowered and "better off" without a union violated labor law, "because they went beyond merely commenting on the employee-employer relationship."

The Federal Trade Commission will wave through Exxon Mobil 's roughly $60 billion acquisition of Pioneer Natural Resources after reaching an agreement with the energy giant, a source familiar with the matter told CNBC. The FTC will not block the deal now that the regulator and Exxon have reached a consent agreement, the source said. The agreement will bar Pioneer's former CEO Scott Sheffield from joining the Exxon board. Exxon first announced the deal for Pioneer in October, in an all-stock transaction valued at $59.5 billion. Shares of Exxon and Pioneer were both little changed in extended trading Wednesday.
