Karabakh, a mountainous area in the volatile wider South Caucasus region, is internationally recognised as Azerbaijani territory. Karabakh has been at the centre of two wars - the latest in 2020 - since the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union. The European Union, France and Germany also condemned Azerbaijan's military action, calling on it to return to talks on the future of Karabakh with Armenia. Loud and repeated shelling was audible from social media footage filmed on Tuesday in Stepanakert, the capital of Karabakh, called Khankendi by Azerbaijan. Karabakh separatist authorities said 25 people had been killed, including two civilians, and 138 injured due to Baku's military action.

The full strike comes after workers on Thursday escalated what had been six days of limited action. The company's Gorgon and Wheatstone Australian LNG facilities account for over 5% of global supply. "Chevron’s 3 West Coast facilities are descending into chaos as Offshore Alliance members lock all 3 Chevron facilities down for the next 24-hours," the union said in a Facebook post. An union representative, who declined to be identified, said the strike would run until 8am WST on Sunday (0000 GMT). Unions have said they will vary strikes according to "industrial strategy", targeting LNG exports in particular.

Even though I made a mistake when I took out my student loans, people should know it's more nuanced than that. I stupidly assumed I would make enough after graduation to pay off my student loans quickly. It's no secret that state schools get a bad rap and are often looked down on. I had one guidance counselor who told me someone with my grades should aim higher than a state school. I'm now paying for the mistakes and will struggle to pay back my student loans for the next decade.
