The Hasidic Jewish community has long operated one of New York’s largest private schools on its own terms, resisting any outside scrutiny of how its students are faring. But in 2019, the school, the Central United Talmudical Academy, agreed to give state standardized tests in reading and math to more than 1,000 students. Students at nearly a dozen other schools run by the Hasidic community recorded similarly dismal outcomes that year, a pattern that under ordinary circumstances would signal an education system in crisis. But where other schools might be struggling because of underfunding or mismanagement, these schools are different.

Productivity startups boomed as a result, but the downturn will give large suites an advantage. Only productivity tools that carve out new niches or address new challenges will have a chance. Startups building new categories are more likely to surviveWhile the downturn makes it harder for productivity and collaboration startups to grow, experts say it's not impossible. Many of the most popular productivity startups address collaboration problems that aren't solved by the existing software tools or are creating a new category of workplace tools. Companies like Miro, Figma, and Canva are creating a new category of visual collaboration tools aimed at remote teams.
Florida high schoolers attending a public college are required to meet civic literacy requirements. Academics in the Sunshine State are unsure if Donald Trump could pass the exam. Insider asked four college professors whether they think Trump could pass the test. Rick Bowmer/AP'Real history and civic responsibility'Since 2019, many future college students in Florida are required to take the Florida Civic Literacy Examination — a test modeled after the US Citizenship and Immigration Services Naturalization Test to encourage civic literacy in the Sunshine State. To pass the Florida Civic Literacy Examination specifically, students must answer 48 out of 80 questions correctly — 60% or higher.

The verdict, coming 16 months after Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald L. Goldman were slashed to death in the front yard of Mrs. Simpson's condominium and after 9 months of what often seemed like interminable testimony, sidebars and high-priced legal bickering, was reached in the end with breathtaking speed. When it was read, much of the nation, President Clinton included, stopped work to listen to it. And with the Simpson verdict, as with the Simpson case, the nation once more divided -- largely along racial lines. So, too, did defense lawyers, with the onetime chief of Mr. Simpson's legal team, Robert L. Shapiro, criticizing his successor. "Not only did we play the race card, we dealt it from the bottom of the deck," Mr. Shapiro told Barbara Walters tonight in an interview on an ABC News special.
