A soccer team consisting entirely of transgender men has made its debut in a regional league in Spain, overcoming administrative challenges and prejudice to become the first all-trans squad to achieve federated status in Europe. Spain passed a pioneering trans rights bill last year designed to make it easier to change a person’s legal gender identity. Hugo Martinez, 24, told Reuters he faced abuse when he began transitioning with gender-affirming hormone therapy and was forced to leave the women’s soccer team in which he had played. The experience prompted Martinez to put out a call online for other trans men seeking to play soccer in a safe environment. But for its fans and players, trans men having the right to play their favorite sport on equal terms is far more important than the score.

CNN —In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s destruction, Augusta National Golf Club – the home of renowned major golf tournament, the Masters – has pledged a massive donation to help those in need in and around the Augusta area. The famed golf club in Augusta, Georgia, and the Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) promised a joint $5 million contribution to the Hurricane Helene Community Crisis Fund on Thursday. “Our employees, neighbors, friends and business owners need, and deserve, immediate and meaningful assistance to overcome the hardships being experienced at this moment throughout Augusta,” chairman of Augusta National Golf Club Fred Ridley stated Thursday. “Augusta National and the Community Foundation each take to heart our obligation to care for our community. A week after Helene smashed into the Southeast, more than 200 people are dead across six states, making the hurricane the second-deadliest to hit the United States mainland since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

In a multiyear partnership, QVC has acquired the exclusive broadcast rights of USA Pickleball, the national governing body of the sport. The deal begins with USA Pickleball's 2024 Biofreeze USA Pickleball National Championships in November, which will be featured on QVC's free streaming platform, QVC+/HSN+. As part of the partnership, QVC will also be the exclusive retail industry partner of USA Pickleball. More than 5 million women over the age of 45 actively play the sport, according to QVC and USA Pickleball.
