This kind of reflection can elicit some regrets, but it also produces valuable insights that I can apply to my life now. While I'm happily retired, here are three things I really regret doing in my 20s — and my best advice for growing up with a more positive mindset:1. Warren Buffett is arguably the most celebrated investor of our generation, but he couldn't have earned the title without Charlie Munger's influence. Munger, Berkshire Hathaway's vice chairman who passed away Tuesday at the age of 99, was instrumental in directing a young Buffett into buying strong-brand quality companies instead of dirt-cheap failing names that he called "cigar butts." The blueprint Munger instilled in Buffett was simple: To buy a wonderful business at a fair price, not a fair business at a wonderful price. In 1972, Munger convinced Buffett to sign off on Berkshire's purchase of See's Candies for $25 million even though the California candy maker had annual pretax earnings of only about $4 million. "Overall, we've kept moving in the direction of better and better companies, and now we've got a collection of wonderful companies, Buffett said.

London CNN —Coaches will no longer be allowed to weigh gymnasts under one of several policies designed to tackle reports of “bullying, harassment and excessive control” in the sport in the UK. Gymnasts also must not be forced to miss formal education classes for gymnastics training under the new policies. Conducted by barrister Anne Whyte, the review concluded that British Gymnastics should have been aware of the “bullying, harassment and excessive control” that occurred in training clubs between 2008 and 2020. In the 2022 report, Whyte highlighted the “recruitment of a significant number of coaches” from the former Soviet Union and the Soviet bloc. In British Gymnastics’ Wednesday statement, Powell said: “Above all else, we care about gymnasts as people, and these new policies make clear that what matters most in gymnastics is the welfare of those involved.

"His idea of traveling in style is an air-conditioned bus, a luxury he steps up to only when bargain fares are in effect," Buffett wrote of Munger. "Naming the plane has not been easy," Buffett wrote. And later on, in the same 1989 letter to the company's shareholders, Buffett wrote about a valuable piece of investment advice Munger shared with him.

Genetics likely played a large part in his health, an aging expert told Business Insider. Munger was a fan of donuts (in moderation), peanut brittle , and Diet Coke, and he avoided exercise as best he could, he said. The researchers confirmed that the black hole is spinning, which causes what is known as the Lense-Thirring effect. “But if you have a rapidly rotating black hole, the space-time around it is not symmetric — the spinning black hole is dragging all of the space-time around with it … it squishes down the space-time, and it sort of looks like a football,” she said. Black holes and galactic historyKnowing the mass and the spin of a black hole helps astronomers understand how the black hole might have formed and evolved, Daly said. However, a black hole that was made with accretion of surrounding gas would see a high spin value. “The question of whether our central galactic black hole rotates or not, or how fast it rotates, is quite important,” Stojkovic said in an email.

Charles T. Munger, who quit a well-established law career to be Warren E. Buffett’s partner and maxim-spouting alter-ego as they transformed a foundering New England textile company into the spectacularly successful investment firm Berkshire Hathaway, died on Tuesday in Santa Barbara, Calif. His death, at a hospital, was announced by Berkshire Hathaway. Mr. Buffett has described him as the originator of Berkshire Hathaway’s investing approach. “The blueprint he gave me was simple: Forget what you know about buying fair businesses at wonderful prices; instead, buy wonderful businesses at fair prices,” Mr. Buffett once wrote in an annual report. That investing strategy was a revelation for Mr. Buffett, who had made his name in the 1950s buying troubled companies at deep discounts.
