SILVERSTONE, England, July 8 (Reuters) - Lando Norris is used to strange requests from a legion of fans at his home British Grand Prix - but signing a baby's forehead was a step too far. "I just get more and more people wanting me to decide their tattoos and stuff," he told reporters. "I used to call (former team mate) Carlos (Sainz) a muppet," he explained. Norris could be the top British driver on Sunday, with Mercedes' seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton and George Russell outside the top 10 in Friday practice. The McLaren driver was already top Brit in Austria last weekend when he finished fourth behind a podium of Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez (first and third) with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc second.

CNN —Apple Original Films has unveiled details of Oscar winner Brad Pitt’s eagerly awaited Formula 1 feature film, as crews begin filming scenes with the actor at Silverstone, where Sunday’s British Grand Prix is being staged. The movie is being made in collaboration with F1, and stars Pitt as a former driver returning to the sport with fictional team APXGP, alongside “Snowfall” actor Damson Idris as his teammate. And what better place to film such a feature than Silverstone, famously the first circuit to ever host an F1 race in 1950. The fictional team will even have its own pit-stop at the track, and filming is due to take place amid this weekend’s British Grand Prix. The fictional team will even have a space on the grid at Silverstone.

After qualifying was finished for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix in March, Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team principal, condemned his own car. “We got the physics wrong, and now we need to correct it,” Wolff said. “We gave it our best go, and now we need to regroup, sit down with the engineers and decide the development direction we want to pursue in order to win races. “We hit our targets, and that showed us that it is simply not good enough.”Weeks later, at the Monaco Grand Prix, Mercedes introduced an upgraded version of its W14 car. There was also a new floor and front suspension.

SILVERSTONE, England, July 6 (Reuters) - Seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton said he would support a peaceful protest at the British Grand Prix this weekend as Formula One drivers voiced fears of environmental activists invading the track. Asked at Silverstone whether he would support a protest that did not involve a track invasion, Hamilton, who has previously expressed sympathy with the cause, replied: "Yes. I support peaceful protests." We don't want to be put in harm's way and we don't want to put anyone else in harm's way. So if there was to be one (a protest) we hope that it's not on track."

This special faith-based education is profoundly important to Hamilton's strictly Orthodox Haredi Jewish community, which numbers 80,000 in Britain. All children in Britain from the age of five must be in full-time education. "Every child has the right to a safe and suitable education," said a spokesperson for the Department of Education. Underlying the tensions at play between the community and secular state, the government's educational standards office Ofsted, which inspects schools, said in 2021 the school's secular curriculum was too narrow. "Hear our pain and our deep request to leave us alone to allow us to keep our identity," said Rabbi Herschel Gluck, a Haredi community leader.

The movie cars are also set to feature on the grid, without driving a formation lap, and be on track in between the sessions. The Apple TV film is being directed by Joseph Kosinski, the director of "Top Gun: Maverick", with producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Hamilton said the movie would also do justice to a sport where cars can hit top speeds of 370kph. I think it’s going to look faster than it does on TV," he said. Finding it and nurturing it remain entirely consistent with the mission of higher education and, indeed, vital to our democracy. More than in any other setting, students who are raised in homogenous neighborhoods and schools first encounter difference — class, racial, ethnic and religious — in college. We should remember that these sorts of learning opportunities are relatively new in the history of higher education. For hundreds of years, many universities that today proudly champion a diverse society promoted and perpetuated class, racial and gender hierarchies. Like Bard College, schools could create early college programs, which allow high school students to take and earn college credits.

It was also the Dutch driver's seventh of a dominant campaign taking him ever closer to a third title. It was also his fifth success at the Red Bull Ring, more than any driver, and left him more than three race wins clear of Perez. The Sprint weekend is always hectic and a lot of things can go wrong but luckily a lot of things went right," said Verstappen. The double world champion lapped his team's home Red Bull Ring with a fastest time of one minute 04.440 seconds on a drying track to complete a qualifying double after securing pole on Friday for Sunday's main grand prix. Red Bull have won all of them, Verstappen six. "It's nice to have a lockout in the Red Bull Ring for the team," said the Mexican, who was 0.493 slower than his team mate. "The sprint race doesn't really matter anyway," said Hamilton, who had his fastest effort deleted for exceeding track limits and was then overtaken by Verstappen while trying to set a valid lap. The race will be the second standalone sprint of the season after Baku, won by Perez in April.

Tourists who pause outside Federal Hall, a Wall Street memorial maintained by the U.S. National Park Service, will find its neoclassical facade covered in scaffolding. But until July 22, the man himself can be found inside, fussing over his dentures, his sleep and his coming inauguration. “Oh, hon,” his wife, Martha, says. The project began when Marie Salerno, the chief executive officer of Federal Hall, and Lynn Goldner, a producer, were strategizing how to raise the memorial’s profile ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026. Where Federal Hall stands (the original hall was demolished in 1812) was the site of Washington’s inauguration and the first Capitol building.

Before the Hamilton County, Ind., chapter of Moms for Liberty achieved national notoriety this month for quoting Adolf Hitler in its newsletter, it was already at war over education in the schools of Indianapolis’s suburbs. School board meetings blew up over “critical race theory” and “social emotional learning.” A slate of conservative school board candidates endorsed by Moms for Liberty faced off last year against a slate opposed to the group’s efforts to commandeer the school system. The diversity, equity and inclusion coordinator of Carmel Clay Schools was under attack. Transgender students, or the theoretical threat such students could pose, were suddenly front and center. “It was bad,” said Carmella Sparrow, the principal at a charter school in Indianapolis who had moved to suburban Carmel for the public schools but found herself doing battle with Moms for Liberty and its supporters at local school board meetings.

Ashley Hamilton was living paycheck-to-paycheck when she went to a local real estate conference. I love real estate because the barrier to entry is so low. Hamilton first learned about real estate in 2009, when she attended a free seminar in Detroit. Still, two concepts resonated with her that she says helped her go from living paycheck-to-paycheck to building a 35-unit real estate portfolio that has helped her achieve financial independence. Another trick that helped Hamilton think long-term was to always have a specific timeline for her goals.

A screenshot of a purported deleted tweet by conservative parents-rights group Moms for Liberty quoting a white supremacist slogan is fabricated. The organization has clarified in a statement on Twitter that it did not post the tweet. The tweet reads, "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children." According to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), the line originates with an infamous “14 Words” written by white supremacist David Lane, and is the “best-known slogan of the U.S. white supremacist movement” (here). A tweet quoting the racist “14 Words” slogan was not an authentic post made by conservative group Moms for Liberty.

Brisbane, Australia CNN —Li Cunxin, who found international fame for his remarkable rise from rural China to become one of the world’s leading ballet dancers, has announced his retirement as the artistic director of Queensland Ballet due to health issues. Li later moved to Australia with his former dancer partner, now wife, Mary Li, where they became a powerful creative force at Queensland Ballet, one of the country’s premier ballet companies. “When I think about what Li Cunxin has achieved in life, for his family in China, for his family around the world, for ballet, for Queensland, for Queensland Ballet, it is nothing short of sensational,” Clark said. Li was tempted back to the stage by the role at Queensland Ballet, which has doubled in size under his stewardship to 48 dancers, performing some of the world’s most challenging repertoires. Mary Li also works at the company as Ballet Mistress and Principal Repetiteur, and will also be retiring at the end of this season, the statement said.

If financial incumbents want to be part of the modernization of financial markets, they need to adopt blockchains, according to Bernstein. Beyond tradeable assets like bitcoin, however, there's an opportunity over the next five years for financial firms in tokenizing real-world assets on blockchains, the firm said in a note this week. "Tokenization, we believe, will transform financial markets over the next decade," analyst Gautam Chhugani said in the Tuesday note. "We forecast ~$5 trillion of real-world financial assets will be tokenized on blockchains over the next 5 years." There is also a big opportunity for new business verticals in custody, trading, trade finance and enterprise consulting, Chhugani said.
