More of Alexander’s interview with Abrams will air tonight on “NBC Nightly News” at 6:30 ET. During the interview, Abrams described Georgia as having "one of the strictest abortion bans in the nation," but didn't specify what she could do to change that if elected. Part of her campaign strategy, Abrams said, involves visiting voters in more rural areas that are typically known for supporting conservative candidates. Abrams said that 53 percent of the 1.6 million people she has helped register to vote in her state are Democratic-leaning. Much of that community, she said, is "often the most overlooked" and that's why she's reaching out to them directly.
REUTERS/Chip EastCompanies Franklin Resources Inc FollowNEW YORK, Sept 21 (Reuters) - The white woman who falsely told police she was threatened by a Black bird-watcher in New York City's Central Park has lost a lawsuit accusing her former employer Franklin Templeton of illegally firing her and portraying her as racist. Franklin Templeton, part of San Mateo, California-based Franklin Resources Inc (BEN.N), said it "responded appropriately" to the incident and was pleased with the dismissal. Franklin Templeton fired Amy Cooper the next day, and she was branded on social media as "Central Park Karen," incorporating a pejorative for an entitled white woman. Cooper argued that the defendants' statements implied that Franklin Templeton had uncovered details about her alleged racism not evident from the video, but the judge disagreed. The case is Cooper v Franklin Templeton et al, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, No.

Velocity Capital Management said Tuesday it will invest up to $50 million in early-stage companies with enterprise values of up to $2 billion. Trump openly criticized Nikki Haley and Nancy Pelosi for their appearances, according to an upcoming book. And he said Pelosi is "an example of why women should be careful about plastic surgery," per the book. And he said he "would not pick Nikki Haley, his United Nations ambassador, as a running mate because she had a 'complexion problem.'" In 2020, for example, Trump shared a series of messages aiming insulting and sexist jabs at Hillary Clinton and Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams. We're not going to have a socialist president, especially a female socialist president, we're not gonna have it, we're not gonna put up with it," Trump said.
(CNN) "Do Revenge" has all the makings of an attention-generating machine, combining a "Mean Girls" vibe with the stars of two popular teen franchises in Camila Mendes ("Riverdale") and Maya Hawke ("Stranger Things"). It's too bad the Netflix movie doesn't match those qualities, offering a mishmash of homages that's mildly diverting but can't ace the final. Yet the plot (based on a script by Robinson and Celeste Ballard) doesn't pursue that enticing prospect with much conviction, which might explain why it runs out of steam down the stretch. The movie also owes debts to a lot of other teen fare, such as "Cruel Intentions," itself an adaptation of the French novel that became "Dangerous Liaisons." Mostly, it's a story of unlikely friendship, set against the backdrop of another private school where the parties make Roman bacchanals seem restrained and pale by comparison.
Graham's bill has virtually no chance of passing the current Congress, where Democrats hold slim majorities in the House and Senate. Some Republicans, including GOP candidates in pivotal Senate races, have backed Graham's new proposal. But other top Republicans either refused to back Graham's bill or expressed a belief that individual states should set their own abortion laws. "With regard to abortion, Democrats are clearly focused on abortion," he added. As Graham's bill brought a renewed focus to the issue, Democrats pounced.
Over the past two years, frenzied demand and bidding wars prompted unprecedented price growth. In May, the Denver real-estate market was buzzing with activity. The seasonal increase in homebuying was underway, turbocharged by the pandemic demand that was worsening bidding wars and propelling prices to new heights. The housing market in the Rocky Mountain city was indeed at or near its peak, at least in the near term. Courtesy of Bonnie Hissey"It was long overdue and, in my opinion, welcome to try and get some balance back in the market," Hissey said.
HBO Max's abrupt removal of dozens of series, mostly kids shows, took creators by surprise. You can't stream it on HBO Max or any subscription service; it's available only for purchase on iTunes. The move was a cost-saving one for HBO Max parent Warner Bros. HBO Max will continue to release new kids and animated programming but is expected to be more selective. "It's a small community" of animation creators, the animation exec told Insider, and those HBO Max cancellations hurt.

Abry Partners' $100 million stake in Kevin Hart's company HartBeat is the latest big M&A move in Hollywood. Dealmakers said production companies are valuable amid the streaming wars and demand for content. The M&A activity had top Hollywood dealmakers telling Insider in early 2022 that practically every independent production company is a target. Many production companies make work-for-hire or don't control the rights to a project once it is sold off to a studio distributor. Based on January interviews with five entertainment industry experts and insiders, Insider identified a list of 10 production companies that could be compelling acquisition targets as M&A activity continues.
