ChatGPT has drawn users at a feverish pace and spurred Big Tech to release other AI chatbots. But ChatGPT, the latest in technology known as "large language model tools," doesn't speak with sentience and doesn't "think" the way people do. Other tech companies like Google and Meta have developed their own large language model tools, which use programs that take in human prompts and devise sophisticated responses. Other researchers seem to be taking more measured approaches with generative AI tools. He told Insider he's helping to experiment with a chat bot called "Rentervention," which is meant to support tenants.

That's all according to a Thursday report from researchers at Arthur AI, a machine learning monitoring platform. AI hallucinations occur when large language models, or LLMs, fabricate information entirely, behaving as if they are spouting facts. Meta's Llama 2, on the other hand, hallucinates more overall than GPT-4 and Anthropic's Claude 2, researchers found. In a second experiment, the researchers tested how much the AI models would hedge their answers with warning phrases to avoid risk (think: "As an AI model, I cannot provide opinions"). "Making sure you really understand the way the LLM performs for the way it's actually getting used is the key."

The number of job postings mentioning ChatGPT has surged in recent months. LinkedIn job seekers are adding AI skills to their profiles at a rapid rate. Some AI skills are highly technical, but people skills still have a lot of value. On Indeed, the number of generative-AI job postings rose by about 50% from July 2022 to July 2023, company data provided to Insider said. Second, while companies may be seeking more people with AI skills, one thing hasn't changed.
