But in 1996, it was three years old, facing layoffs and close to going out of business as a contract with a major partner — video game company Sega — fell apart. As part of the Sega contract, Nvidia needed to make chips for rendering 3D graphics on gaming consoles, Huang explained. Worse, during that period, Microsoft rolled out its DirectX software interface, which became a standard for gaming platforms — and it wasn't compatible with Nvidia's chips. Sega bought out its Nvidia contract, and used chips from Imagine Technologies' PowerVR for its Dreamcast consoles. It wasn't easy to admit Nvidia's mistake and humbly ask a client for understanding, Huang said: "These traits are the hardest for the brightest and most successful, like yourself."

Until my son was seven, I was a single mom. As a teacher, I once had a student say they had "mad respect" for me when they found out that I was a single mom, and that's because the majority of people realize that being a single mom isn't easy. But now that I have that and I've been remarried for a couple of years, I actually miss my life as a single mom. If I could go back to my single mom days, I would appreciate the time more. CNN —Thailand’s House of Representatives voted to legalize same-sex marriage on Wednesday, bringing the Southeast Asian nation a step closer to becoming the third territory in Asia to guarantee equal marital rights. The lower house of parliament passed the bill following a third and final reading, with 400 representatives voting in favor. It would also make the country only the third place in Asia to allow for marriage equality after Taiwan legalized same-sex marriage in 2019 and Nepal in 2023. Previous attempts to legalize marriage equality over the past decade have stalled. Nonetheless Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, of the Pheu Thai Party, had also promised to bring the marriage equality bill to parliament.

☆ Chick-fil-A will stop using its ‘no antibiotics ever’ label on chicken

Citing diminishing chicken supply, Chick-fil-A will back off its pledge never to serve chicken that was fed antibiotics, and instead it will embrace a looser industry standard: “no antibiotics important to human medicine.” Chick-fil-A first announced that it would abandon antibiotics in 2014. The change comes after Tyson, America’s biggest poultry company, last summer ended its eight-year-pledge to keep antibiotics out of its chicken. That particular disease is not treatable with antibiotics, but other diseases that can kill chickens do respond to antibiotics. In addition to chickens’ health, antibiotics are particularly important to promote poultry growth — particularly for items like large broiler chickens. It noted in that 2007 publication that “an appropriate balance should be struck between animal health needs and human health considerations – human health being, however, paramount compared to animal health.”

Joining the Haganah, Schwimmer discovered, wasn't as easy as just strolling through the door. CNN —The White House on Sunday attacked congressional Republicans for pushing a provision in the government funding bill that limits which flags can be flown above US embassies, effectively banning LGBTQ flags. “President Biden believes it was inappropriate to abuse the process that was essential to keep the government open by including this policy targeting LGBTQI+ Americans,” a White House spokesperson said in a statement. “The flag provision would continue to allow pride flags to be present in almost all cases at embassies, except flown *over* the exterior of the building. While the State Department under Donald Trump rejected requests from embassies to raise the Pride flag, Secretary of State Antony Blinken authorized US diplomatic missions to raise the flag above embassies and consulates across the world in 2021. Many US embassies fly the Pride flag during the month of June, which is recognized as Pride Month in the United States and other countries.
