The Commerce Department, which oversees export controls, is working on an update of export restrictions first released last year. "The PRC has been expecting an update around the one year anniversary, based on conversations with administration officials," the U.S. official said, using the abbreviation for People's Republic of China. U.S. officials provided the information to Chinese counterparts in recent weeks, the official said, which Reuters is reporting for the first time. The Biden administration has also sent a series of high-level officials to China, including Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo in August. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen also gave Chinese officials a warning in July about restrictions on U.S. investment in China released in August.

BEIJING, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Chinese authorities have charged the former chairman of the national football association with bribery as part of an anti-corruption investigation into the soccer federation, state broadcaster CCTV reported on Tuesday. In August, Chinese state media reported that senior soccer official and chairman of the Chinese Super League Liu Jun had been taken away by authorities for investigation. In January, two former CFA officials were investigated for suspected "severe violations of the law", according to statements posted by the sports regulator. Applying to jobs can feel like a numbers game, and there's no shortage of hacks to try and get your resume into the hands of a hiring manager. But one so-called tip that's gone viral on TikTok several times over may not be so foolproof. The hack, known as "white fonting," is "bad advice," says Farah Sharghi, a recruiter who estimates she's conducted more than 10,000 interviews at companies like Google, Lyft and TikTok. The idea stems from standard advice to tailor your resume using keywords in the job description. "It drives me nuts," Sharghi says of the trick, "and there's always a resurgence every year on TikTok where somebody makes a video about it, and it gets millions of views and people do it."

SHANGHAI/SINGAPORE, Sept 26 (Reuters) - China's securities regulators have told market participants that tighter rules for programme trading were not designed to kill the business, but were a response to calls for more oversight, according Asia's largest financial lobby group ASIFMA. Quant funds in China include global players such as Winton, Two Sigma and D.E.Shaw though these three aren't members of ASIFMA. The rules "came out all of a sudden because the regulators might be facing pressure from investors suffering from recent poor stock market performance," he said. Since the beginning of the pandemic, corporate bosses have used Labor Day as a benchmark to call workers back to offices. New data shows that office attendance rates have, indeed, picked up since 2020, though even the latest annual autumn push shows the limits to how many more people may return. It begs the question as another Labor Day return has come and gone: Is anyone taking new RTO announcements seriously? 1 reason people don't want to use their office, according to an October 2022 Gartner survey, followed closely by the cost of going into the office. Liu proposed on Sunday a new round of structural reforms that could aid the economy immediately, while also injecting long-term growth momentum. Both camps argue their proposals should be treated with urgency by policymakers, ahead of the annual Central Economic Work Conference, an agenda-setting gathering of top leaders expected in December. The pro-reform camp is beating the drum for faster structural reforms, including relaxing the system of residence permits, or "hukou", to spur consumption, removing market entry barriers for private firms at the cost of state giants. Reforms are urgently needed as growth engines such as property, exports and infrastructure are stalling, he said. Structural reforms with expansionary effects can also have immediate effects." Rob Subbaraman, chief economist at Nomura, said short-term stimulus would spur growth but at the cost of worsening structural distortions.
