An Easyjet flight had a "near miss" with an "unidentified flying object," according to a new report. The pilot said the plane missed the unmanned flying object by around 10 feet. A report by the UK Airprox Board said the object was likely a drone. A National Air Traffic Services investigation report said the pilot first reported the incident over the radio during the flight. After landing the flight the pilot confirmed the plane had not made contact with the drone and the thud likely came from the cabin, per the report.
Jet-tracker Jack Sweeney rocked the boat when he started posting Elon Musk's private jet flights on Twitter. Celebrities can block their jets on certain websites via a special federal program, but Sweeney says it doesn't help. Louis Vuitton CEO Bernard Arnault is one: He recently sold his private aircraft so "no one can see where I go." The program allows private aircraft owners to block their planes from being tracked by websites like FlightAware and FlightRadar24 because they use FAA data. REUTERS/Jason LeeExports of diesel fuel last month more than doubled from a year earlier to 1.73 million tonnes, the highest monthly rate since July 2021, according to data from the General Administration of Customs. Exports of aviation fuel, including refuelling at Chinese airports for airlines plying international routes, jumped by 38.6% from a year earlier to 1.23 million tonnes last month. China had maintained broad curbs on fuel exports this year, resulting in total fuel exports in the first nine months of 2022 falling 28% from a year earlier. But in an about-turn in fuel trade policy, Beijing in late September released an additional large batch of 15 million tonnes of export quotas, including 13.25 million tonnes for gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, with the remainder for marine fuel. Table below shows trade details, volumes in million tonnes.
A flight attendant was badly hurt when his plane was hit with turbulence during its descent. The attendant broke his ankle in two places during the July 2021 incident on a Norwegian flight. Turbulence began when the plane was forced to fly through a storm previously missed by air traffic radar. His colleague — cabin crew member three — also injured her ankle in the incident, but provided assistance, and informed the rest of the flight crew of her colleague's more severe injury. Cabin crew member two suffered two fractures and a dislocated ankle, while crew member three suffered bruising.

Damage to the Nord Stream pipelines was caused by intentional acts of sabotage, Denmark said. The Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines have been leaking natural gas into the Baltic Sea. The Danish military captured footage on Tuesday of natural gas swirling at the sea's surface, and published photographs of the massive spill. After Russia's late-February full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Moscow suspended gas flow through the newer Nord Stream 2, which wasn't yet operational. More recently, it has stopped gas flow through what was previously a fully operational Nord Stream 1.
Passengers deplane from a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas at Hollywood Burbank Airport in Burbank, California, Oct. 10, 2021. Southwest Airlines has hired and trained 3,000 flight attendants so far this year, nearly triple its record cabin crew member hiring in all of 2018, the carrier told staff last week. The carrier told staff that it has 7,000 flight attendants in its hiring pipeline and that its attrition rate among new cabin crew members has dropped to 2.5% compared with 6.1% in 2019. The hiring spree comes as Southwest flight attendants' union and management have been locked in contract negotiations. Southwest and United Airlines flight attendants, which are represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, are set to picket at major airports on Tuesday to demand better working conditions.

DAKAR, Sept 24 (Reuters) - A 48-hour strike by air traffic controllers in West and Central Africa has been suspended, their union said on Saturday. The strike, which started on Friday, has disrupted flights across the region and left hundreds of passengers stranded at airports on Saturday. The Union of Air Traffic Controllers' Unions (USYCAA), which called the wildcat strike, said in a statement it decided to suspend its strike notice for 10 days immediately so as to allow for negotiations. The union said more than 700 air traffic controllers joined the strike to demand better working and pay conditions. The controllers work under the Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA) an 18-member state agency that manages air traffic over an area covering 16 million square km of airspace.

REUTERS/Maxim Shemetov/File PhotoSept 23 (Reuters) - Russian employees at airlines and airports have started to receive conscription notices after President Vladimir Putin ordered a partial military mobilisation, the Kommersant newspaper reported on Friday citing sources. Employees of at least five airlines, including Russian top carrier Aeroflot (AFLT.MM), and staff at more than 10 airports received notices within a day of Putin ordering the mobilisation, the paper reported. Most pilots in airlines are reserve officers trained in military departments of flight schools, or privates who have completed military service. All Russian men are required to do a year's military service between the ages of 18 and 27, although university students may instead receive instruction from a military faculty alongside their chosen studies. This is the first time Cruise has acknowledged the long-term need for remote human operators. Truly autonomous vehicles are far behind the optimistic rollout schedules predicted just a few years ago. In a June interview on YouTube, Musk said developing self-driving cars was "way harder than I originally thought, by far." Over time, those people will act as "air traffic controllers," supervising a growing number of autonomous cars. "Even decades from now you will not get to 100% truly autonomous vehicles," Kaveh added.
More workers have gone on strike in the first half of 2022 than in all of 2021. In short, more workers have gone on strike in 2022 than in 2021 — and that's still with six months of data left to track. Post-vaccine 2021 into 2022 has marked an uptick in organizing and increasing pushback from workers on the previous status quo. They reached an agreement with railroad companies, avoiding the immediate possibility of strikes that could have crippled the US economy. Workers at companies like Starbucks, Trader Joe's, and Amazon are seeing historic union wins.
Spirit Airlines reported a second-quarter loss as strong travel demand and higher fares weren't enough to overcome a surge in costs. Spirit reported results less than two weeks after it announced it agreed to sell itself to JetBlue Airways for $3.8 billion, ending a monthslong bidding war for Spirit between JetBlue and Frontier Airlines. Miramar, Florida-based Spirit posted a net loss of $52.4 million for the three months ended June 30. In the current quarter, Spirit expects pretax margins between negative 1% and positive 1%, citing capacity constraints in Florida. Still, Spirit said it expanded flying almost 10% in the second quarter compared with the same period of 2019.
Despite growing public support for unions, Constant says union power has weakened in recent decades. Now is the time for Congress to protect union rights by passing pro-union laws at the federal level. Only about one in 10 American workers belongs to a labor union. How union power has been undermined across the countryThe past four decades have seen attacks on union power at almost every level of government. Presidents that followed Reagan — Republican and Democrat alike — either continued his push to erode union power or simply failed to shore up union power.

What you might get depends on the airline itself and the specific circumstances on why a flight was canceled. Google your credit card plus travel protections to see what specific offerings your card carries.”If your flight is delayed instead of outright canceled, you might want to weigh whether to wait at the airport.

„Vom intra cu avionul în Capitoliu miercuri. Soleimani va fi răzbunat”, se aude într-un apel rostit de vocea sintetizată pe calculator a unui bărbat. Amenințarea face referire directă la fostul general iranian Qassem Soleimani, asasinat anul trecut de o dronă americană, moarte care a tensionat și mai mult relațiile dintre SUA și Iran și pe care șiiții irakieni au jurat să o răzbune.
