Her business, The Shoe Game Co., started as a hobby before evolving into a side hustle and, eventually, a full-time gig. Sneakers didn't reappear on her radar until the Covid pandemic when work became stressful and her girlfriend encouraged her to reconnect with her childhood hobby as a way to decompress. It was a once-in-a-blue-moon deal that wouldn't have been possible if Zapata didn't know her niche as well as she does. CNN —Jordan Chiles filed an appeal of the decision that led to the US gymnast being stripped of an Olympic bronze medal, her attorneys announced Monday. Chiles was stripped of her first individual Olympic medal after the Romanian gymnastics team challenged the decision to revise her final score in the floor exercise to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Chiles has now opted to appeal CAS’ decision to the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland – where CAS is based. “Jordan Chiles’ appeals present the international community with an easy legal question—will everyone stand by while an Olympic athlete who has done only the right thing is stripped of her medal because of fundamental unfairness in an ad-hoc arbitration process? The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) said they are determined to see Chiles receive the recognition she deserves.

Larry Ellison, chairman and co-founder of Oracle Corp., speaks during the Oracle OpenWorld 2017 conference in San Francisco on Oct. 1, 2017. Oracle shares surged more than 6% on Monday, continuing their recently rally and propelling Chairman Larry Ellison to become the world's second-richest person, snatching the title from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Bezos, who had been the second-richest person on and off since 2016, is worth $202 billion. The stock surge caused Ellison to briefly pass Bezos as the world's second-richest person on Friday, before the Amazon founder reclaimed the title. CNN —The Green Bay Packers left it all – and a little bit more – on the field against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. During the second quarter with the Green Bay offense at third down and 10, center Josh Myers appeared to vomit on the field before immediately snapping the ball to Willis. “I asked Malik why he didn’t throw the ball on that third down, and he told me Josh threw up on the ball,” said LaFleur. Willis threw 12-of-14 on pass attempts for 122 yards, getting his first NFL touchdown in his first start for the team. Running back Josh Jacobs totaled 151 yards on 32 carries in an explosive outing, while Willis added another 41.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The San Francisco 49ers placed All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey on injured reserve because of his lingering calf and Achilles tendon injuries. The move made Saturday means McCaffrey will miss at least four more games after already sitting out the season opener. He missed only one game combined in 2022-23 — a meaningless Week 18 game last season for San Francisco when he had a sore calf. Now San Francisco will likely rely heavily on Mason, a former undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech who had 83 carries his first two seasons. San Francisco also elevated safety Tracy Walker III from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against Minnesota.

The Saints, one week after blowing out the lowly Carolina Panthers, did the same in Dallas to the high-flying Cowboys. The Ravens were in control for most of the game and then Davante Adams and Brock Bowers took over. The Ravens aren’t built to win when their defense softens — but that isn’t to say they won’t find ways to play the kind of defense the Ravens are known for. Meanwhile, the Saints’ defense denied the Cowboys on all three trips inside the red zone and recorded two takeaways. He made some strong in-structure throws, including a beauty to Noah Brown in the middle of the field late in the game to win the game.

The 16 teams that lost last week look to bounce back with performances that reflect improvement and promise. Rodgers completed 13 of 21 passes for 167 yards, a touchdown and an interception, and the Jets managed just 68 rushing yards. Five years ago, while playing for the Copper Hills High School football team, Thompson met Marcel Malanga, the son of Christian Malanga. He proclaimed himself president of the United Congolese Party and railed against what he saw as vast government corruption in the DRC. On May 19, he assembled a ragtag band of a few dozen paramilitaries, leading them in an extraordinarily ambitious yet ultimately amateurish attempt to unseat Congolese president Felix Tshisekedi. Among them were Thompson, Malanga's son Marcel, and 36-year-old Benjamin Reuben Zalman-Polun, a convicted drug trafficker from Maryland. Videos taken in Kinshasa after the aborted coup showed Thompson being hit with the butt of a rifle by security forces.
