“Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice will compete for best rap song. Tracks from the soundtrack also hog up four of the five available slots in best song written for visual media. Peso Pluma’s 2023 album, “Génesis,” is just tucked among the nominees for música mexicana. But música urbana — encompassing reggaeton, Latin hip-hop, dembow, Latin trap and more — is a crowded, competitive, hugely popular format. His 2023 album, “Seven Psalms,” plays as a thoughtful, complex, tuneful farewell, anticipating his death.

ATLANTA (AP) — When rapper Young Thug goes to trial later this month on gang and racketeering charges, prosecutors will be allowed to use rap lyrics as evidence against him, a judge ruled Thursday. Young Thug, whose given name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, was indicted last year along with more than two dozen others. Young Thug has had enormous success as a rapper and has his own music label, Young Stoner Life. All of the defendants were accused of conspiring to violate the anti-racketeering law, and the indictment includes rap lyrics that prosecutors allege are overt acts “in furtherance of the conspiracy.”“The question is not rap lyrics. The question is gang lyrics,” prosecutor Mike Carlson told the judge during a hearing Wednesday, later adding.

"It could certainly happen if one was focused on one type of demographic and the other, another type of demographic," Liberty Media Chairman John Malone told CNBC's David Faber in an interview that aired Thursday. "Broadcast continues to survive, but is under real pressure as Big Tech competes for sports," Malone told CNBC. Disney already offers a three-way bundle plan of Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+, which Disney owns. "The streaming version with ads will be part of the cable bundle," Malone, a former Charter board member, told CNBC. Sengun matched Green in efficiency, going 8 of 10 from the floor while, like Green, adding seven rebounds. The Rockets ran away and hid from the Lakers early, amassing 20 points in the paint in the opening period. The ease with which Houston scored was enhanced by superior ball security -- the Rockets committed only two turnovers in the first quarter -- and sticky defense. Rockets reserve Tari Eason paired nine points with nine rebounds in his season debut.

By Cara Murez HealthDay Reporter(HealthDay)FRIDAY, Nov. 3, 2023 (HealthDay News) -- Put down the saltshaker — especially if you’re at risk of type 2 diabetes. While the condition brings to mind the need to avoid sugar, a new study links it to frequent salt consumption. He is chair and professor at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans. Over almost 12 years on average, the research team saw more than 13,000 cases of type 2 diabetes develop. Compared to those who “never” or “rarely” used salt, participants who “sometimes,” “usually” or “always” added salt had a respective 13%, 20% and 39% higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes, according to the study.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The former street gang leader charged with orchestrating the 1996 drive-by killing of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas is expected to plead not guilty Thursday to murder, amid questions of whether he'll hire a defense lawyer or a judge appoints a public defender. Goodman spoke for Davis outside court two weeks ago, saying that prosecutors lack key evidence and witnesses to the killing committed 27 years ago. The attorney didn't give a reason Wednesday why Davis couldn’t hire him. He was arrested Sept. 29 outside a home in suburban Henderson where Las Vegas police served a search warrant July 17, drawing renewed attention to the unsolved murder of one of hip-hop music’s most enduring icons. His indictment alleges Davis provided a gun to someone in the Cadillac from which car-to-car gunfire mortally wounded Shakur and wounded rap music mogul Marion “Suge” Knight at an intersection just off the Las Vegas Strip.
