The growing prevalence of one- and same-day delivery has made Amazon a much more convenient to place to shop for everyday essentials. "If people buy everyday essentials on Amazon, they're more likely to buy other products too," said Jeff Marks, the Club's director of portfolio analysis. This added convenience in ordering everyday essentials from Amazon comes at a challenging time for physical retailers known for selling those same products. The company likes "to be in the consideration set for consumers" in the everyday essentials since it helps drive market share gains, Olsavsky said.

"Brick and mortar is never going to be dead, and you have to invest in your stores to make them exciting for your customers," she said. Dillon, who served as the CEO of Ulta Beauty before taking the reigns at Foot Locker two years ago, has focused on improving the company's stores and strengthening brand partnerships. Dillon said the Foot Locker plans to have two thirds of its stores "refreshed" by the end of 2025. She added that some of the new stores feature technology to help figure out customers' shoe sizes, which creates a "fun digital experience."
