What followed was hundreds of sequels and spinoffs, everything from "Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul" to "Chicken Soup for the Canadian Soul" to the bestseller I read cover to cover, several times, in sixth grade: "Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul." By 2003, research found that more young readers seeking solace turned to the Chicken Soup series than to the Bible. What began as Chicken Soup for the Soul board games and calendars turned into Chicken Soup for the Soul chocolates and Chicken Soup for the Soul pet food. He pointed out that the cover of the original Chicken Soup book "ripped off" Campbell's Soup, to trigger "nourishing and comforting and warming" feelings. He started suggesting outrageous directions Chicken Soup could go in next: "The Chicken Soup pistol!

Antonio Scordo, 50, is struggling to navigate the college financial aid process for his two daughters. Having already sent his son through college, Scordo was familiar with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, process — but this year has brought a host of new challenges. "We also don't want to apply for not enough because then you're scrambling to try to find money at the last minute. According to Federal Student Aid, the ability to make corrections and updates will not become available until "the first half of April." To help pay for his son and one of his daughter's schools, he took out nearly $50,000 in parent PLUS loans, per documents reviewed by BI.

The most important driver in second quarter for bitcoin and crypto, however, could be the Federal Reserve decision on interest rate cuts. Traders are now pricing in a roughly 61% chance of a first Fed rate cut taking place in June, according to the CME FedWatch Tool . Demand has increased from 40,000 bitcoin at the start of the year to 213,000 bitcoin currently, largely driven by ETF buying ahead of the late April Bitcoin halving, according to CryptoQuant. However, the SEC's decision on whether or not to allow spot ether ETFs to trade, due in May, will "very likely" be market moving, he added. "If it's not priced in today, then it very likely will be a market moving event if it happens," he said.

"This contentious and vast disagreement between radical gender theory activists and the general public has nothing to do with Best Buy selling electronics." "Were Best Buy to agree to such a compromise with us, we will not make a splash about it." One document, filed in April of 2023, listed Jacob Thomas Vespers and Vespers Inc—a company formed the same day—as manager of the fund. A document filed a few weeks later registered the address of the company as unit 234, a small second-story apartment overlooking the courtyard at The Orchard. When OpenAI was informed about the Vespers document by the journalist in July 2023, the company did not report the allegedly fabricated filing to any authorities, Wood said. All of them are associated with Jacob Thomas Vespers, referred to in some documents as Jacob Thomas Redmond Messer or Jacob Thomas Redmond or Jacob Thomas Messer. Walmart's internal systems had more than a dozen "major incidents" in the last two months alone. An additional two major incidents occurred this past weekend, the person said. Walmart's global technology platform runs the retailer's core business operations, including in-store point-of-sale systems, e-commerce, and distribution and fulfillment centers. Internal emails obtained by BI show that Walmart's business is interrupted by issues with its global tech platform at a far more frequent rate than previously reported. Last year, Walmart spent $11.8 billion on supply chain, customer-facing initiatives, and technology, according to a recent SEC filing, up from $9.2 billion the year before.

The Securities and Exchange Commission's chair, Gary Gensler, recently warned about "AI washing," or companies giving off a false impression that they're using AI so they can amp up investors. And while some companies are simply exaggerating the tech they do legitimately use, others have taken it a step further. Most companies aren't being accused of breaking the law with their AI chatter, but they're definitely posturing around it. An analysis from Goldman Sachs found that 36% of S&P 500 companies mentioned AI in their fourth-quarter earnings calls, a record high. Even the Big Tech companies that are really moving and shaking in AI are on shifty ground at times.

The Securities and Exchange Commission scored a major win in its lawsuit against Coinbase on Wednesday, as a judge ruled that its claim that the cryptocurrency exchange engaged in unregistered sales of securities could be heard by a jury at trial. Coinbase shares fell around 2% on news of the ruling in Manhattan federal court rejecting its bid to dismiss the SEC's complaint. The regulator first filed suit against Coinbase in June, alleging the company was acting as an unregistered broker and exchange. "The Court finds that the SEC adequately alleges that Coinbase, through its Staking Program, engaged in the unregistered offer and sale of securities," Failla wrote. In June, SEC Chair Gary Gensler said that trading platforms like Coinbase "call themselves exchanges" but were "commingling a number of functions."

UnitedHealth Group has paid out an additional $1 billion to providers that have been impacted by the Change Healthcare cyberattack since last week, bringing the total amount of funds advanced to more than $3.3 billion, the company said on Wednesday. UnitedHealth, which owns Change Healthcare, discovered in February that a cyber threat actor had breached part of the unit's information technology network. The interruptions left many health-care providers temporarily unable to fill prescriptions or get reimbursed for their services by insurers. Many health-care providers rely on reimbursement cash flow to operate, so the fallout has been substantial. Federal agencies like the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services have introduced additional options to ensure that states and other stakeholders can make interim payments to providers, according to a release.

Truth Social, a platform developed by former president Donald Trump, has finally secured approval to merge with its shell company Digital World Acquisition Corp. After all, many DWAC investors don't appear to be trading on fundamentals, especially as Truth Social isn't reputed for high usage or revenue.
