WASHINGTON, Oct 11 (Reuters) - The U.S. says it has accepted an invitation to attend China's top annual security forum in late October, the latest sign of potentially warming ties between the two countries' militaries. The Pentagon did not say whom China had invited or who from the U.S. side would attend, and China's embassy in Washington also declined to give details. Before 2019, the U.S. often sent embassy defense attaches. CHINA'S DEFENSE MINISTERAs China's defense minister, Li typically would give a keynote speech at the forum and meet with delegations. Beijing has offered no official explanation about Li's fate and his disappearance raises questions about how this year's forum will be conducted.

Plus, which had headquarters in Suzhou, China, and California, separated its operations into two independent companies. FTA increased its stake in Zhijia Technology via a stock swap arrangement that reduced its ownership in Plus, the company said. Plus declined to comment on the size of FTA's shareholding in Zhijia Technology. The stake in Zhijia Technology will help the company's work to develop autonomous trucking fleets - a potentially lucrative market amid a truck driver shortage in China.

Liu Liange was accused of illegally granting loans and causing significant financial risks, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said in a statement on its website. Liu, born in 1961, had been working in banking and finance institutions, including in the central People's Bank of China and the Export-Import Bank of China, before he was promoted to become chairman of the Bank of China in 2019. Two weeks later, state media reported that the CCDI had opened an investigation into him on suspicion of serious violations of party discipline and laws.

London CNN —Intelligence officers in Belgium are monitoring Alibaba’s logistics hub in Europe for possible espionage on behalf of the Chinese government. Belgium’s state security service VSSE told CNN Thursday it was watching the activities of Alibaba’s (BABA) logistics arm, Cainiao, at the country’s Liège cargo airport. “We strongly deny the allegations [which are] based on prior conjecture,” Cainiao told CNN in a statement. Liège airport announced in 2018 that it had struck a deal with Cainiao to become its European logistics hub. Last month, Alibaba announced a plan to spin off and list Cainiao on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The raids were part of a broader crackdown on the consulting industry by Beijing as it seeks to tighten control over what it considers sensitive information related to national security. “We have deeply realized that the consulting sector must step up the awareness of safety and security. WASHINGTON (AP) — For much of the world, China’s Xinjiang region is notorious, a place where ethnic Uyghurs face forced labor and arbitrary detention. The trip is an example of what Washington sees as Beijing’s growing efforts to reshape the global narrative on China. Chinese President Xi Jinping has demanded that China tell its story to the world so Beijing would be trusted and respected. In Xinjiang, Beijing has brought in diplomats and foreign journalists on tightly orchestrated trips with minders in tow. While the State Department report focused on Beijing's global influence efforts outside the United States, its findings are similar to those documented in the U.S. by think tanks and advocacy groups.

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon is bullish on the benefits of artificial intelligence, which is already being used by thousands of employees at his bank, and he predicts it'll usher in the norm of a shortened workweek. "Your children are going to live to 100 and not have cancer because of technology," Dimon said Monday in an interview with Bloomberg TV. Dimon says the bank's investments in AI "will add huge value" and is being leveraged across the firm's research, trading, customer service and other functions. When asked if the technology is likely to replace some bank jobs, he responded that "of course" it will, but that "technologies always replace jobs." Tech innovations also create new jobs and opportunity: AI technology could improve labor productivity and boost global GDP by as much as 7% over time, Goldman Sachs' report noted.
