Yum Brands hopes to use artificial intelligence to take down drive-thru orders at hundreds of Taco Bell restaurants by the end of this year. In May, executives said Taco Bell would expand its pilot of voice AI from five locations to 30 restaurants in California. Currently, more than 100 Taco Bell restaurants in the U.S. use voice AI. Taco Bell had nearly 7,700 U.S. locations at the end of 2023, according to company filings. Five KFC restaurants in Australia are also testing voice AI tech in drive-thrus, Yum Brands said.

CNN —The flight attendant involved in an incident that led to Terrell Davis’ removal from a United Airlines plane in handcuffs “is no longer employed” and the NFL Hall of Famer’s “no fly” ban has been lifted, the airline told CNN Tuesday. Additionally, the airline said the flight attendant involved in the controversy is no longer an employee. It was not immediately clear if the flight attendant’s employment status is a result of the incident involving Davis. The letter “was generated due to the report of the flight attendant - who is no longer employed by United,” Leslie Scott, a spokesperson for United Airlines, said in a statement to CNN. Firefighters raced to contain scores of blazes across the American West on Friday night as California’s largest wildfire of the year prompted a new wave of evacuations. Federal officials say active fires have burned more than 1.8 million acres. Already this week, thousands of people have been told to evacuate, and haze from the fires has floated across the continent. The fire’s growth triggered a new wave of evacuation orders and warnings on Friday, when it was zero percent contained, according to Cal Fire. Gavin Newsom of California on Friday declared a state of emergency for Butte and Tehama Counties, in addition to Plumas County, where the Gold Complex fire had burned nearly 3,000 acres.

Cool temperatures are expected to calm fire behavior, which will help the 154 firefighters in Jasper fight the blaze, Jasper National Park said on Facebook Friday night. Two wildfires converged in the Jasper National Park area, becoming what authorities are referring to as the Jasper Wildfire Complex. Together, the fires have swallowed an estimated 89,000 acres, the Jasper National Park said. An evacuation order remains in effect for Jasper and Jasper National Park, with the vast majority of evacuees being visitors, officials said. Along with about 5,000 residents who live in the town, 2.48 million people visited Jasper National Park last year.

Ryan Kendall’s crew of firefighters arrived too late to save the house on Dear Abby Road. All that was left on Friday, amid the thick forests that surrounded it, was a jumble of smoking household appliances licked by hissing flames. The plastic from the home’s giant water storage tanks was fully ignited and dripping fire onto the forest floor. Dear Abby Road is in a neighborhood, Forest Ranch, that is hauntingly similar to the community that was decimated six years ago in the town of Paradise. As the crow flies, Forest Ranch is just 10 miles and a few gullies away, built into the evergreen forest on steep hillsides.
