New York CNN —Starbucks is teaming up with Grubhub as it tries to boost sales after a challenging quarter. By August, Starbucks items should be available on Grubhub throughout the country, the company said. Prior to the Grubhub partnership, customers could already order Starbucks items via DoorDash and Uber Eats. Since the pandemic, more consumers have been getting their cafe and restaurant orders to-go, via delivery or pickup. In addition to broadening access to delivery, Starbucks is taking other steps to try to jumpstart sales, like updating its app, offering new menu items and testing staying open overnight.

RFK Jr. may have already peaked in the presidential race

CNN —Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is perhaps the biggest X factor remaining in the presidential race. That’s better than any third-party or independent candidate has polled in an individual survey at this stage in the cycle since Ross Perot in 1996. Biden is likely aware that Kennedy voters tend to skew younger – a demographic that traditionally leans Democratic. Perhaps more concerning for the independent candidate is what’s going on under the hood. He’d previously never had a net negative favorable rating in the double digits.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani departs the U.S. District Courthouse after he was ordered to pay $148 million in his defamation case in Washington, U.S., December 15, 2023. The D.C. Bar's Board on Professional Responsibility on Friday recommended that Rudy Giuliani be barred from practicing law in the nation's capital. This report follows one from last year in which a disciplinary board for the D.C. Bar also recommended disbarment for Giuliani. Now, the case heads to the D.C. Court of Appeals, which will decide whether Giuliani, who formerly served as the mayor of New York City, will be disbarred. Giuliani has already had his law license suspended in New York, where a New York court ruled that he made "demonstrably false and misleading statements" following the 2020 presidential election.

CNN —Astronomers were in for a surprise when NASA’s Lucy mission flew by an asteroid named Dinkinesh in November and spotted a contact binary — two smaller space rocks that touch each other — orbiting the asteroid like a moon. “Basically, the planets formed when zillions of smaller objects orbiting the Sun, like asteroids, ran into each other. The Lucy mission captured additional imagery revealing that the asteroid Dinkinesh’s moon is actually two space rocks that are touching one another. Too distant to be seen in detail with telescopes, the asteroids will get their close-up when Lucy reaches the Trojans in 2027. The mission borrows its name from the Lucy fossil, the remains of an ancient human ancestor discovered in Ethiopia in 1974.

In this article BTC.CM= Follow your favorite stocks CREATE FREE ACCOUNTOmer Taha Cetin | Anadolu | Getty ImagesA major thesis around bitcoin ETFs was that financial advisors needed regulated funds like them to direct their wealthy clients to invest in bitcoin. For one, bitcoin ETFs have been hailed as the most successful ETF launches in history, with BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) reaching $20 billion in assets under management this week, even with advisors sitting out. CNBC spoke with a dozen members of CNBC's Advisor Council, which includes Baker, to learn why so many financial planners are still down on bitcoin and bitcoin ETFs, and what could cause them to change their tune. Many hope consistent flows into bitcoin ETFs over the years can lower that volatility, but for now, it's still a deterrent for some. "Financial advisors now have a way to give clients access [to bitcoin] that's safe, reliable and regulated," said Bradley Klontz, managing principal of YMW Advisors in Boulder, Colorado.

The center, a division of the National Weather Service, issued a modern geomagnetic storm watch, known as a G2, for Friday and Saturday. Unlike the G5, or extreme geomagnetic storm, that occurred on May 10, moderate storm watches are not uncommon, according to the center. But the aurora-causing solar flares and coronal mass ejections currently spewing from the sun are a result of the same sunspots that triggered solar activity in May, according to Dr. Ryan French, solar physicist at the National Solar Observatory in Boulder, Colorado. “The frequency of things is decreasing, but you only need one to cause a large geomagnetic storm. The solar storm on May 10 was the most successfully mitigated space weather storm in history, Dahl said.

CNN —Donald Trump’s former lawyer Rudy Giuliani is one step closer to being disbarred. The professional responsibility board in Washington, DC, recommended Friday that the ex-New York mayor and federal prosecutor lose his law license because of his involvement in a bogus 2020 election fraud lawsuit. Giuliani’s law license had already been suspended due to his work boosting Trump’s false assertions about his electoral loss. It is up to the DC Court of Appeals to decide whether to permanently disbar Giuliani. It was the 1950s, and nothing was going to get in the way of building a national highway system. Today, state highway departments have rebranded as transportation agencies, but building, fixing and expanding highways is still mostly what they do. Jared Polis signed a law that required the state to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 90 percent within 30 years. Transportation is the largest single contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in the United States, accounting for about 30 percent of the total; 60 percent of that comes from cars and trucks. To reduce emissions, Coloradans would have to drive less.

Want a low mortgage rate? Take someone else’s

This means that a buyer keeps the seller’s repayment period, mortgage balance and, notably, the seller’s lower mortgage rate. Securing that ultra-low mortgage rate means that Harper will save thousands of dollars in monthly payments. “I just decided I wanted to see how low I could pay on the interest rate,” Harper said. And while the mortgage rate on the second loan may be high, the total monthly payment could still be lower — if the assumed mortgage rate is low enough. Snagging a low mortgage rate like Harper’s in today’s high interest rate environment may seem like a dream come true to some prospective homebuyers, but the process is not always smooth sailing.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has a line about the state of small-scale agriculture in America these days. It’s drawn from the National Agricultural Statistics Service, which shows that as the average size of farms has risen, the nation had lost 544,000 of them since 1981. “That’s every farm today that exists in North Dakota and South Dakota, added to those in Wisconsin and Minnesota, added to those in Nebraska and Colorado, added to those in Oklahoma and Missouri,” Mr. Vilsack told a conference in Washington this spring. “Are we as a country OK with it?”Even though the United States continues to produce more food on fewer acres, Mr. Vilsack worries that the loss of small farmers has weakened rural economies, and he wants to stop the bleeding. Unlike his last turn in the same job, under former President Barack Obama, this time his department is able to spend billions of dollars in subsidies and incentives passed under three major laws since 2021 — including the biggest investment in conservation programs in U.S. history.

The “exceptional” and “virtually complete” dinosaur fossil, which is 11 feet tall and 20 feet long, will be sold as part of Sotheby’s annual Geek Week. Paleontologists have questioned the sale of such specimens to private bidders, arguing that these finds should be preserved in museums or other public spaces. Nevertheless, that will not stop the auction of the 150-million-year-old fossil from going ahead in New York on July 17. Apex, as it has been nicknamed, is the “finest Stegosaurus specimen to come to market,” Sotheby’s said in a press release Wednesday. It is expected to fetch between $4 million and $6 million, making it one of the most valuable dinosaur fossils ever offered up for sale, the auction house added.

When we don't get enough sleep, it can influence everything from how much money we make to our likelihood of developing dementia, heart disease, and diabetes. Researchers have found that stress is one of the strongest indicators of poor sleep. On top of that, the county struggles with poor health, another major contributor to poor sleep. In our analysis, we overlaid the CDC's sleep data with a CDC survey on mental health and found a 79% correlation between mental-health problems and poor sleep. In the food-services industry, people juggle inconsistent shifts and low pay that often requires taking on multiple jobs, and 40% of workers don't get enough sleep.

That femur led to a stegosaurus fossil, among the largest and most complete ever found, which has subsequently been nicknamed “Apex.” In July the Sotheby’s auction house will sell Apex at auction at an estimated value of $4 million to $6 million, making the skeleton the latest flashpoint in a long-running debate about the private fossil trade. Dinosaur fossils have fetched escalating prices at auction houses since 1997, when Sotheby’s sold “Sue” the Tyrannosaurus rex to the Field Museum in Chicago for $8.36 million. In 2020, “Stan,” another largely complete T. rex skeleton, sold at Christie’s for $31.8 million. Such pricing has raised serious concerns among academic paleontologists, said Stuart Sumida, vice president of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology. Many of them have watched fossils that may unlock scientific mysteries get steered into the hands of wealthy private collectors rather than toward research institutions in recent decades.

The bombs used in the Israeli strike that killed dozens of Palestinians in a camp for displaced people near Rafah on Sunday were made in the United States, according to weapons experts and visual evidence reviewed by The New York Times. U.S. officials have been encouraging the Israeli military for months to increase the use of GBU-39 bombs in Gaza because they are generally more precise and better suited to urban environments than larger bombs, including U.S.-made 2,000-pound bombs that Israel routinely uses. “This is the smallest munition that our jets can use.”In response to questions from The Times, the Israeli military declined to specify the munition used. CNN —Rivers and streams in Alaska are changing color – from a clean, clear blue to a rusty orange – because of the toxic metals released by thawing permafrost, according to a new study.
