Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the council had decided to exempt GST on some millet flour products, on which it currently stands at 18%. The council, which includes the federal finance minister and state finance ministers, has also approved a 5% GST rate for millet sold in prepackaged and labelled form. ANKARA, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Turkish forces have "neutralised" 58 Kurdish militants in northern Syria in overnight attacks on militant targets, the Defence Ministry said on Saturday, as conflict in the region escalated nearly a week after a bomb attack in Ankara. Since the bomb attack, Ankara has launched a barrage of air strikes and attacks against militant targets in northern Syria and Iraq, while ramping up security operations at home. The ministry said the operations, which it says are carried out under self-defence rights, had "neutralised" 58 militants in the region. Late on Friday, the ministry had said Turkey's military had conducted air strikes in northern Syria, destroying 15 militant targets where it said militants were believed to be. Turkey, which has mounted several incursions into northern Syria against the YPG, has said a ground operation into Syria is an option it could consider.

CNN —Actress Julia Ormond is suing disgraced former film producer Harvey Weinstein for battery and sexual assault she says occurred in 1995, according to a copy of the complaint obtained by CNN. Ormond is also suing the once Weinstein-owned Miramax as well the Walt Disney Company, which purchased Miramax in 1993, for negligence and Hollywood talent agency CAA (Creative Artists Agency), who represented the actress, for negligence and breach of fiduciary trust. (A majority stake of CAA was recently purchased by the Artémis investment firm.) In the complaint, first reported by Variety, Ormond alleges that in December 1995, she and Weinstein were supposed to have a business dinner to discuss a project. Weinstein, 71, was at the center of allegations that fueled the global #MeToo movement in 2017.

European financial institutions accounted for most of those instances, and much of the greenwashing involved claims about fossil fuels. "Over 50% of these climate-specific greenwashing risk incidents either mentioned fossil fuels or linked a financial institution to an oil and gas company. The European Banking Federation did not respond to a request for comment on the increasing number of greenwashing incidents found by RepRisk. The banking and financial services industry is second only to oil and gas for the number of greenwashing incidents, RepRisk said.

The European Commission said on Tuesday it had established a list of four technologies, as well a further six to look into later, as part of the European Economic Security Strategy it unveiled in June. The Commission stresses that it must first carry out a risk assessment with the EU's 27 members and consulting companies before determining any measures. "The risk assessment will be country agnostic, but we will take into account geopolitical factors to determine how severe those risks are," an EU official said. In advanced semiconductor technologies, areas of focus include microelectronics and chip-making equipment, in AI data analytics and object recognition, and for quantum cryptography, communications and sensing. The EU has previously carried out an assessment of the security of its 5G networks, which has led some EU countries to restrict use of equipment made by China's Huawei and ZTE.
