“Spoiler Alert,” the new film based on entertainment journalist Michael Ausiello’s heartbreaking 2017 memoir, certainly doesn’t have a storybook ending. The film, directed by Michael Showalter (“The Big Sick”), closely follows “Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies,” which Ausiello wrote in the wake of his husband Kit Cowan’s death from colorectal cancer, at age 42. Even watching the movie now, it’s still a bit of a head trip to see it.”From left, Ben Aldridge, Jim Parsons, Sally Field and Bill Irwin in "Spoiler Alert." But, in general, these moments — and even the comedic stylings of Sally Field — aren’t able to distract from the inherent sadness of “Spoiler Alert” for very long. “I want them to have their own experience seeing the movie,” Ausiello said of audience members.
But agency veterans, outside public health officials, and workplace organization experts said the current workplace structure could be a major barrier to that goal. As of early 2020, much of the workforce of the FDA and the National Institutes of Health was working remotely. Today, the NIH is mostly back in the office, but the FDA said many of its employees continue to work remotely when possible. Many people have fled the U.S. public health workforce in recent years, burned out from the covid-19 response. Benjamin said the CDC would likely have made its pandemic stumbles even if staffers hadn’t been working remotely.

Here's how one non-profit, Native Women Lead, is enabling Indigenous women's economic mobility:'It's up to use to close the racial wealth gap'Native Women Lead was founded in 2017 by eight Native American women entrepreneurs: Jaime Gloshay, Kalika Davis, Lisa Foreman, Kim Gleason, Vanessa Roanhorse, Alicia Ortega, Stephine Poston and Jaclyn Roessel. That conversation inspired the creation of Native Women Lead, an Albuquerque-based non-profit that aims to help Indigenous women entrepreneurs across the world access the capital, mentors, financial education and support needed to thrive in their careers and narrow the wealth gap. To date, Native Women Lead has provided about $500,000 to 65 Indigenous women entrepreneurs through the two funds, partnering with credit unions and investing firms such as Nusenda Credit Union and ImpactAssets to connect entrepreneurs with capital. While closing the wealth gap might start with funding opportunities, Native Women Lead views wealth as "more than just revenue or profits," Stephine Poston, one of the group's co-founders, says. Keeping this in mind, Native Women Lead offers wellness-focused retreats for Indigenous women as well as fireside chats on self-care practices, healing from trauma and other mental health topics.
A decision by Whole Foods to pause purchases of Maine lobster has sparked outcry from the state's elected officials and the lobster industry. Whole Foods' decision, which was announced this month, was prompted by changes in sustainability ratings for Maine lobster fisheries by separate third-party seafood monitoring groups: the California-based Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch and the London-based Marine Stewardship Council. "There has never been a right whale death attributed to Maine lobster gear," they said. “Maine lobster has always been sustainable and that hasn’t changed with the recent announcement from MSC,” Steve Kingston, the owner of The Clam Shack in Kennebunk, Maine, said in a statement. The company said its stores would continue to sell Marine Stewardship Council-certified lobster caught elsewhere.

Or, he could double down on the gaslighting behaviors, in which case you need to fashion an exit strategy, stat. Help! My boss added mistakes into my work

Dear Work It Out,What do you do if your boss (accidentally) adds mistakes into your work after you've turned it in and they're supposed to be correcting it? My answer assumes that your boss is a reasonable person with whom you have a relatively good working relationship. Your boss is not trying to sabotage you and that's the first thing you should remember when talking to them. If your boss made a change that is inaccurate, that's where things might feel a little more awkward. That way you're not giving them just something to solve, you're showing that you're already thinking about how to make things better for the both of you and the work you're putting out together.
Whole Foods will no longer sell Maine lobster in its stores. The Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative, which represents the Gulf of Maine fishery, also called the decision "disappointing" in a statement to Maine Public. Right whales can reach up to 52 feet in length and live up to 70 years. The main causes of unusual death for right whales include entanglements with fishing gear and collisions with ships. Representatives for Whole Foods, the Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative, and the Marine Stewardship Council did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Matt Soeth is an online safety consultant and former high school English teacher. He says you don't have to have a tech background to work in internet safety. This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Matt Soeth, a 44-year-old online safety consultant based in California, about how to create a safer internet. Much of our work in trust and safety is about managing human behavior (good and bad) and the systems and tools behind that. But, knowing how online safety works, and speaking to systems of education and programs, are both ways to get ready for interviews and find roles.

Green construction startups have raised a record $2.2 billion in 2022, per VC firm A/O PropTech. The construction and operation of buildings account for 37% of global CO2 emissions from energy use, according to the UN. The adoption of bio-based materials, such as wood, and a circular approach to construction can help cities become carbon sinks, the report stated. A carbon sink is when something can store more carbon emissions than it produces. Most building materials are currently "down-cycled" and used for things like filling potholes, she added.
The startup has designed a collaborative planning tool for customer support teams. London-based Surfboard launched in 2021 with the aim of making work more human, and efficient, for customer support teams. Typically in support teams, there are three main actors; the agents who do the customer support work, their managers, and the end customers — who usually have to wait a long time for services. In turn, Surfboard hopes that support teams save time otherwise spent manually altering spreadsheets, and curb lost revenue and employee churn. With the cash injection, it will develop its product and focus on customer acquisitions by investing in its marketing efforts.
Many environment ministers and campaigners have said the climate talks should underline the importance of protecting nature to help to limit climate change. The "landmark" target of the draft Montreal deal proposes protecting 30% of the world's land and sea by 2030 - known informally as 30-by-30. The world's wildlife crisis is largely driven by habitat loss, with wild spaces turned into agricultural fields and cities, or degraded by pollution. But climate change poses an increasing threat as temperatures climb, pushing species out of their comfortable ranges. It encouraged parties to "consider, as appropriate, nature-based solutions or ecosystem-based approaches" to climate change.
