This arrangement has kept the Mother and child safe for 12 years when Agent Cruise reaches out with news that Zoe (Lucy Paez) has been found by the Mother’s former partners: Adrian Lovell (Joseph Fiennes) and Hector Alvarez (Gael García Bernal). Lovell is a nasty-smooth piece of work. As Alvarez, Bernal basks in some candlelit cruelty when the action shifts to Cuba. Lovell trained the Mother as a sniper in Afghanistan. Apart from some deadpan exchanges between the Mother and Zoe, Lopez plays the role fierce.

Photo: ASHRAF FAHIM/REUTERSFinance executives are bracing for higher costs and unintended consequences from new federal disclosure requirements on share repurchases, the latest in a series of moves by lawmakers and regulators to curb the popularity of stock buybacks. The Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday approved a rule requiring most companies to provide daily buyback amounts at the end of each quarter, rather than the monthly amounts that they have to supply now. In addition, companies will have to check a box if their officers and directors purchased or sold shares within four business days of announcing a buyback program.

The Indian tribunal said the new resolution professional will take "all necessary steps including the execution of the arbitral award".
This is the first time an Indian airline has voluntarily sought bankruptcy protection to renegotiate contracts and debt. Go First's lessors include major global names such as Jackson Square Aviation, SMBC Aviation Capital and CDB Aviation's GY Aviation Leasing. Two advisers to some lessors said there were major concerns that the granting of bankruptcy protection for Go First could force the lessors to embark on lengthy litigation to repossess planes. The person added that the development could lead to higher lease rates for Indian airlines in the future.
Violent clashes between supporters of Imran Khan and police broke out across the country after Pakistan's anti-corruption agency arrested the former prime minister on Tuesday. Pakistan's rupee has lost nearly 50% over the past 12 months. JPMorgan analyst Milo Gunasinghe said little relief from political uncertainty was in sight while the IMF programme remained stalled. "It is usually up to the country to present a credible plan of policies and financing that, in the face of political uncertainty, will credibly address the members’ balance of payment problems." The armed forces remain Pakistan's most powerful institution, having ruled directly for close to half the country's 75-year history through three coups.

CNN —The Biden administration is rolling out unprecedented measures intended to levy consequences against migrants who cross the border unlawfully in the wake of Title 42’s expiration this week. But, officials concede, the high number of border arrests in the coming days will still pose a steep challenge. “This is a really unprecedented moment in the Americas,” a senior administration official said Tuesday. But senior administration officials stress the actions are necessary to encourage people to use lawful pathways to come to the US. When asked by CNN Tuesday what measures authorities are taking to drive down in-custody numbers, the senior administration official said officials are working closely with NGOs and have expanded transportation contracts.

May 8 (Reuters) - A Texas man accused of mowing down a group of pedestrians with his SUV near a Brownsville homeless shelter that attends to migrants was charged on Monday with eight counts of manslaughter, police said. Responding to a question from a reporter, Sauceda said investigators have not ruled out that the crash was intentional. The driver attempted to flee the scene after impact but was held down by several bystanders, Sauceda said. Alvarez, who was also charged with 10 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, has an extensive criminal history, the chief said. A video circulating online purporting to show the crash shows a speeding SUV plowing into a row of people sitting on the curb.
A day after a sport-utility vehicle plowed through a group of migrants in Brownsville, Texas, killing eight people, police officials identified the man behind the wheel as George Alvarez and said they were still trying to determine whether the crash was intentional. Mr. Alvarez has been charged with eight counts of manslaughter, 10 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving, and is remaining behind bars, Chief Felix Sauceda of the Brownsville Police said on Monday. His gray Range Rover SUV struck about 20 people near a bus stop. Chief Sauceda said the police were investigating reports that Mr. Alvarez had yelled anti-immigration epithets at the group. More criminal charges could be added, he said, if investigators determine that the crash was deliberate.

Stephanie Joyce and Isaac Jones , Pat McCusker , Sonia Herrero andRepublican-led legislatures have recently made it clear what they don’t want taught in public school classrooms: sexuality, gender identity, structural racism. But when it comes to what they do want, one approach frequently arises: classical education. The Fed is on track to increase rates a quarter point while deliberating if that will be enough to pause the fastest rate-raising cycle in decades. Photo: olivier douliery/Agence France-Presse/Getty ImagesExecutives are watching the Federal Reserve’s latest policy meeting for clues on its inflation-fighting campaign and the potential for a so-called hard landing that could cramp consumer spending on everything from airline tickets and cars to furniture and snacks. The Fed this week is on track to increase interest rates by a quarter percentage point while deliberating whether that will be enough to then pause the fastest rate-raising cycle in four decades. The central bank’s benchmark rate stands at a range between 4.75% and 5%, and another quarter-point increase at the meeting that concludes Wednesday would lift it to a 16-year high.
West Ham remain in trouble in 15th place, four points above the relegation zone.
