Brisbane, Australia CNN —A pilot who died when he crashed a helicopter into a hotel in Australia had “significant blood alcohol content” during the unauthorized flight, according to an official report into the incident. The pilot had been out with friends at various venues around Cairns and was seen consuming alcohol, according to witnesses and security camera footage, the report said. Cameras also caught the moment he positioned one of Nautilus Aviation’s Robinson R44 Raven II helicopters onto a helipad at Cairns Airport at around 1:30 a.m. local time. The report found they wouldn’t have seen a helicopter that was operating at night with no lights. It found the helicopter wasn’t upright when it hit the hotel, but there was also no sign of mechanical failure.

For financial institutions, short positions can be lucrative. The fund shorted about four dozen companies from Pennsylvania during McCormick’s tenure, the records show. The fund did invest in stocks of some of the same Pennsylvania companies it shorted in other years, and overall, it reported spending more money buying stocks of Pennsylvania companies than shorting them in four of the five annual reports reviewed by CNN. “Love Island USA” personality Hannah Smith was arrested and accused of threatening to kill a police officer on Sept. 30 in Atlanta, according to an incident report from the Cobb County Police Department. According to the incident report, Smith was escorted out of the concert venue by security for allegedly yelling and screaming. While being escorted out, Smith allegedly punched a member of emergency medical services who was assisting, according to a Cobb County officer supervising the situation. On the way to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Center, Smith allegedly threatened to kill the officer and the officer's sister. Smith was placed in custody and charged with two felonies — terroristic threats and obstruction or hindering an officer, according to police.

New York CNN —Boeing and the union that represents 33,000 striking employees at the company say talks between the two have broken down and no new talks are scheduled. A previous tentative agreement between the union and Boeing ahead of the strike was rejected nearly unanimously by the members now on strike. Union members are angry that they lost the traditional pension plan that they had at Boeing until 10 years ago. Boeing on Tuesday said that it is trying to reach a deal with the union that will bring the strike to an end. But the union said Boeing refused to improve the publicly disclosed offer of two weeks ago.
