The judge ordered the airlines to end their more than two-year partnership, which allowed them to share passengers and revenue, and to coordinate schedules in the northeastern U.S. American and JetBlue will stop selling seats on each other's flights next Friday, two months after a federal judge ruled that the airlines' partnership in the Northeast violated antitrust laws . American, however, said it still plans to appeal the ruling on the Northeast Alliance. "We will continue to work with the JetBlue team to ensure customers who have existing codeshare bookings can travel seamlessly without disruption to their travel plans." Thursday is also the last day that customers can use American AAdvantage frequent flyer miles to book flights on JetBlue.

It was 10 a.m., adoring union members had already more or less mobbed their president, Fran Drescher, and the crowd was growing by the minute. Outside Netflix offices in Hollywood, a festive, celebratory mood had taken over the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue. It was a workers’ strike, to be sure. But it felt a little like a summer Friday street party — one with a few famous guests. We bring so much joy to people by entertaining them,” Crew added.

The Massalit and other non-Arab communities are often targeted by Arab militias, supported by the RSF, the report said. “Many of these abuses committed in the context of the armed conflict in Sudan amount to war crimes,” HRW’s report said. Satellite imagery and fire detection data shows that six other towns and villages in West Darfur, including Molle, Murnei, and Gokor, were also burned down, according to the report. Since then, West Darfur has seen widespread violence and reports of atrocities committed by RSF fighters and their allied militias. “Since the conflict in Sudan broke out in April, some of the worst atrocities have been in West Darfur,” HRW senior crisis and conflict researcher Jean-Baptiste Gallopin said.

Poached chickens and roasted chickens dangle in the window of Hainan Chicken House on Eighth Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Scattered among the plain white tiles on the dining-room walls are other tiles printed with images of chickens. Hainan Chicken House is dedicated to Hainanese chicken rice, a dish with ancient origins on Hainan Island in southern China. The owners of Hainan Chicken House are Malaysian New Yorkers, and it is the Malaysian version of chicken rice that they serve, along with curry laksa, mee goreng and a few other classics of the cuisine. What is called the House Hainan Chicken at Hainan Chicken House comes to the table wrapped in paper, hawker style, and sealed by a sticker printed with an image of a chicken.

It's only fitting then that OpenAI should have a headquarters befitting its status as the vanguard of new AI revolution. But the company has kept details about its San Francisco headquarters a closely guarded secret. A reporter for Insider was even less successful, turned away by a security guard on an intercom who refused even to confirm or deny the existence of an OpenAI office at the location. But we may now have some hints about what it's like inside the offices of the world's most famous AI company, thanks to architectural plans and planning documents viewed by Insider. "It's an impressive space," said Peter Eisenbeiser, a city official who performed the final inspection of the 1960 Bryant Street space.

While pretax 401(k) contributions reduce your adjusted gross income, you'll owe levies on growth upon withdrawal. By comparison, Roth 401(k) deposits won't provide an upfront tax break, but the money can grow tax-free. Experts say these expected changes may also factor into the pretax versus Roth contributions analysis. Plus, recent changes from Secure 2.0 have made Roth 401(k) contributions more appealing for some investors, she said. My family of 5 stayed in two family rooms on the Amtrak Auto Train from Florida to Virginia. Our family rooms felt spacious — they were the width of the train with large picture windows on both sides. We didn't have private showers, sinks, or toilets in the rooms, but there were communal bathrooms nearby in our train car. Our $3,100 train trip was more expensive than what we'd have spent on gas, hotels, and food during a road trip from Florida to Virginia. Next time, we'll book one family cabin and an adjacent roomette, a move that would've saved us about $630.

Mortified, I fished them from my pocket and began sifting through the trash more carefully. Mere weeks before, I had been tutoring the children of migrant agricultural workers around Flathead Lake in northern Montana, after graduating from the University of Montana. I emerged from the belly of the C-17 military plane into a powerful wind that pushed the temperature to 40 degrees below zero. Among my duties was organizing each building’s trash center, an initial step before solid waste technicians retrieved, palletized and shipped it all back to America. Trash centers consisted of eight cabinets: skua, glass, aluminum, mixed paper, plastic, food waste and the particularly unsavory sanitary waste.

The platform is currently being rolled out and will let the fund move into new asset classes faster. Now, the migration to a new reference-data platform is underway. With the new solution, Citadel says, it will be able to move into new asset classes much faster. With the new platform, Citadel can respond when new asset classes come into the market, like cryptocurrencies or collectibles. "It's critical for our systems to accommodate growth in various asset classes and support the ever-increasing crossover between them," Tan said.

Mark Zuckerberg, chief executive officer of Meta Platforms Inc., speaks during the virtual Meta Connect event in New York, US, on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022. for a virtual future. A Chinese state-controlled media outlet published a harsh critique of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday, accusing the billionaire of essentially "shooting himself in the foot" when it came to the Chinese markets. The editorial, translated from Mandarin, said that Zuckerberg's past criticisms of Chinese companies, including ByteDance's TikTok, essentially amount to self-sabotage of his efforts to sell in China. Zuckerberg has been a critic of both specific China-based companies and widespread Chinese corporate espionage. "I think it's well documented that the Chinese government steals technology from American companies," Zuckerberg testified before Congress in 2020.

Netflix dropped its "Basic" ad-free $9.99 a month membership plan in Canada at the end of June. There are signs the streaming giant will sunset its "Basic" plan in the US as well. The removal of the "Basic" plan may signal Netflix's move to boost sign-ups for its ad-tier. There are also signs that the streaming giant may be sunsetting its "basic" membership plan for new US customers. Only time will tell whether Netflix's removal of its 'Basic' plan will leave a lasting impact on the streaming giant's bottom line.

Insider spoke with a former Instagram product manager to better understand the platform's decisions. IGTV, which launched in 2018 with its own separate app, was sunset in 2022 and its app is now defunct. But Instagram's ethos was its own downfall when it came to rolling out the IGTV product and separate app. The only other alternative, then, is adding a Twitter-like feed to the main Instagram app. "It's almost this predetermined life cycle of a social consumer app," Wei said, adding that Facebook has already gone though this phase.

Bed Bath & Beyond maintains strong brand awareness, Johnson said, despite mismanagement and eventual bankruptcy. "We'll do this transition slowly where the Overstock customer will come to the new website and will recognize it, but so will the Bed Bath & Beyond customer. "One thing that Bed Bath & Beyond customers will realize is that our non-coupon price is really good. The new Bed Bath & Beyond website is set to be relaunched in Canada within the next week, with a subsequent rollout of a website, mobile app and loyalty program in the U.S. expected in the coming weeks. "We've long liked the Bed Bath and Beyond name, but we didn't like the stores, the inventory, so don't expect stores from us." Before the Bed Bath & Beyond bankruptcy, Overstock thought that a rebrand would take years and potentially hundreds of millions of dollars, according to Johnson. Instead, Overstock company was able to buy Bed Bath & Beyond's name and customer data for $21.5 million at a bankruptcy auction. Overstock already has a new Bed Bath & Beyond website in Canada, and it plans to go live with a U.S. website in August. Once a storied retailer, Bed Bath & Beyond filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April after struggling for years with dwindling sales and a failed merchandising strategy.

LONDON, June 27 (Reuters) - India's power consumption is becoming increasingly "peaky" as a result of rapidly growing air-conditioning loads and the deployment of increasing amounts of solar power. In response, the government has announced increased use of time-of-day tariffs to encourage consumption during solar hours and penalise usage after sunset. On June 23, the Ministry of Power outlined plans for a three-rate tariff, with prices varying between normal hours, solar hours and peak hours ("India to cut daytime power tariffs, raise fees for night use", Reuters, June 23). Prices during solar hours will be reduced by 10-20% compared with normal while peak hours will be 10-20% more expensive - a total swing from least-expensive to most-expensive of 20-40%. Chartbook: India electricity systemIn May 2023, India's total electricity consumption was marginally lower than in the same month a year earlier as a result of cooler temperatures.

Republican Sen. Rick Scott is reportedly considering a presidential run. According to The New York Times, Scott is eyeing a late entry into the field. The Times reports that Scott, who was also governor of Florida, is considering a late entry into the growing 2024 Republican field. I've written 10 books and journals on happiness, gratitude, habits and resilience that share how to cultivate a positive mindset amidst chaos. Here are five research-backed practices I do every day to feel happier:1. Sometimes I'll feel lofty ("Helping people live happy lives"), or laser-focused ("Finish writing the next chapter of my book"). A laundry list of 20 things would feel like too much, so this prioritization helps me sleep better. And by choosing only three tasks, I've already done the hard work of deciding what not to focus on.

On Tuesday, Palestinian gunmen opened fire near an Israeli settlement, killing four people. "We are very disturbed that violent settler activity has considerably increased in the last months and it's... becoming, in fact, the means through which (Israeli) annexation is insured," said Miloon Kothari, a member of a Commission of Inquiry mandated by the U.N. Human Rights Council. The COI addressed the Geneva-based Human Rights Council earlier on Tuesday, accusing Israel's government of placing growing restrictions on Palestinian civil society groups. Israel, which left its seat empty, said in a statement by its Foreign Minister Eli Cohen that the COI was a "stain on the U.N. and on the Human Rights Council". The council cannot make legally binding decisions but evidence collected by the inquiries it establishes is sometimes used by international courts.
