The annualized 7-day yield on the Crane 100 list of the 100 largest taxable money funds is currently 5.08%. History shows that when investors do move out of money market funds, they move into fixed income over equities, he said. Institutional investors will also continue to move into money market funds as the Fed cuts rates because any cash they have in direct money market investments, such as Treasury bills, will be hit by rate cuts quicker than money market funds, explained Peter Crane, founder of Crane Data, a firm that tracks the industry. Once you have the appropriate cash needs set aside, consider moving any excess funds into fixed income, Jenkin said.

Critical chip equipment supplier ASML is set to face softer demand from buyers of its products in the coming years — and the artificial intelligence boom won't be enough to offset these downside risks, according to analysts at investment bank UBS . Such memory chip makers include Samsung and Nvidia supplier SK Hynix. ASML is behind a key technology involved in chip manufacturing known as EUV, or extreme ultraviolet radiation. DRAM is a type of memory chip that's needed for a computer to function. Shares of the company were down more than 6% Wednesday, alongside a raft of other chip stocks , following a deep slide in Nvidia shares Tuesday .

Affirm shares jumped as much as 16% in after hours trading on Wednesday, after the provider of buy now, pay later loans reported better-than-expected fiscal fourth-quarter results . The T-Rex 2X Long Nvidia Daily ETF (NVDX) and Direxion Daily NVDA Bull 2X Shares (NVDU) have also attracted inflows this month and now have more than $1 billion in assets combined. Entering Wednesday, Nvidia was up 159% for the year, and the three leveraged long ETFs had all delivered higher returns. Inverse Nvidia funds also exist, though they have been less popular than their leveraged long counterparts so far.
