BEIJING, June 21 (Reuters) - A slowdown in both the Chinese and global economies is the biggest issue affecting European firms in China, beating political tensions with the United States and decoupling, according to the European Chamber of Commerce in China. The number of European firms that see China as a top-three destination for future investment was at its lowest total on record, the chamber's annual position paper released on Wednesday said. As rising interest rates and inflation squeeze demand in Europe and the United States, companies in China are in contrast battling a sharp decline in prices as the risk of deflation weighs on the world's second-largest economy. BASF (BASFn.DE), Maersk (MAERSKb.CO), Siemens (SIEGn.DE), and Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) are among the members of the chamber. The chamber's findings, which were based on the views of members from February to early March, revealed that a record number of companies had lost business last year due to market access and regulatory barriers.

HONG KONG, June 21 (Reuters) - UBS (UBSG.S) will start cutting Asia investment banking jobs at Credit Suisse next month, three people with knowledge of the matter said, as the banks move towards integrating businesses. In the Asia Pacific region, there will be significant reduction in Credit Suisse investment bankers covering Australia and China, where the two banks overlap most, two of the sources said. UBS is also looking to axe most of Credit Suisse's Asia consumer and retail and general industrial group coverage teams, the two sources said. Both UBS and Credit Suisse declined to comment. The bulk of Credit Suisse investment bankers in Southeast Asia have left, said one of the three sources and a fourth person with knowledge of the matter.

The US Air Force has begun retiring the A-10, an aircraft famed for its role in close air support. Indeed, the US Air Force is finally retiring the aging A-10 Warthog ground-attack aircraft, which a top official has said "doesn't scare" China. According to Pentagon's budget request for 2024, the Air Force is looking to cut its TACP force by more than 40% over the next three years. If the plan goes ahead, the Air Force TACP community will have a little over 2,100 positions for officers, enlisted troops, and civilian personnel in 2025, down from the 3,700 slots it has currently, a spokesman told Air Force Times. June 15 (Reuters) - German fashion house Hugo Boss (BOSSn.DE) on Thursday raised its 2025 sales target, betting on strong demand across its markets. The company forecast annual sales of 5 billion euros ($5.4 billion) by 2025, compared to the previous target of 4 billion euros, which it expects to meet this year. Hugo Boss, which has undergone a brand revamp under the leadership of former Tommy Hilfiger head Daniel Grieder, is investing in marketing to boost sales and expand market share. It is also targeting an operating profit (EBIT) of 600 million euros by 2025, up from a previous goal of around 480 million, and an EBIT margin of at least 12% versus a previous forecast of around 12%. "The risk of deflation is still weighing on the economy," said Zhiwei Zhang, chief economist at Pinpoint Asset Management, in a note. China's economy grew faster than expected in the first quarter, but recent indicators show demand is rapidly weakening with exports, imports and factory activity falling in May. Food price inflation, a key driver of CPI, slowed to 1.0% year-on-year from 2.4% in the previous month. On a month-on-month basis, food prices fell 0.7%.

The world’s biggest sandwich chain announced Tuesday that it would open almost 4,000 new stores across mainland China over the next 20 years. SINGAPORE, June 3 (Reuters) - Canadian Defence Minister Anita Anand said on Saturday that the country's critical infrastructure was increasingly being targeted by cyberattacks, posing a significant threat to the economy of the world's fourth-largest crude oil producer. In an interview on the sidelines of an Asian security summit in Singapore, Anand said there had been an increase in cyberattacks across North America, although she did not attribute the strikes to any state-sponsored actors. Canada is home to a number of large oil pipelines that are important for global crude supplies. Multinational energy companies like Exxon Mobil (XOM.N) and Royal Dutch Shell (SHEL.L) have major operations in the country. Anand was speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia's top security meeting, where rising tensions between the United States and China have dominated proceedings.

SINGAPORE, June 3 (Reuters) - South Korea's defence minister said on Saturday that some countries were "ignoring North Korea's unlawful behaviour", which he said threatens to weaken U.N. sanctions against its missile and nuclear programmes. NEW YORK, June 2 (Reuters) - Exchange operator Cboe Global Markets (CBOE.Z) said on Friday it will let companies list across its U.S. and international exchanges, expanding in a fiercely competitive field dominated in the United States by the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Inc (NDAQ.O). Cboe, which has stock exchanges in North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, currently lists only its own stock, along with exchange-traded funds, on its U.S. exchange. But financial software firm Abaxx Technologies Inc (ABXX.NLB), which is listed on Cboe Canada, has received conditional approval to be intralisted on Cboe U.S., the exchange operator said. "Cboe has built an expansive, global equities footprint unrivalled in the industry that uniquely positions us to deliver the first-ever truly global listing experience for issuers seeking to tap new markets beyond their home region," Dave Howson, global president of Cboe Global Markets, said in a statement.
