The news from Bloomberg that billionaire Point72 founder and legendary stockpicker Steve Cohen will no longer trade his book for the $35 billion fund Tuesday is paradoxically both shocking and expected. Of the big multi-strategy managers, the fact Cohen was still managing a book set him apart from his main competitors. Will there be another Steve Cohen? Cohen launched SAC with $20 million in 1992; new funds today need exponentially more to justify leaving seats at funds like Point72. Fictional hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod, played by Damian Lewis, was loosely based on Steve Cohen.

Artificial intelligence is expected to transform the way companies do business, including those in financial planning and investment management. That means financial advisors need to get onboard or risk being left behind. Of course, financial advisors have been using some technology, like financial planning software, for years. Still, AI will help financial advisors do their jobs better — not necessarily put them out of work. What to do Nexus Strategy's Welsh believes financial advisors should begin getting comfortable with current AI capabilities.

Gentle parenting — which I define as an approach that centers kids' social-emotional needs — started off with the best of intentions, I believe. I think a lot of them would be better served by another parenting approach, one that educators love: structured parenting. While it's different from so-called gentle parenting, structured parenting is still gentle, kind, and individualized. Structured parenting means moms and dads don't lose themselvesParents are more self-critical these days than they ever have been. Structured parenting lets you deliver love and empathy, not only to your children but to yourself.

More than 4,000 people have descended here for the Future Proof conference , a vast social gathering designed to give younger registered investment advisors and other investment professionals access to what they want. What they want, apparently, is an intense desire to network with other RIAs and investment professionals and find ways to grow their business. This is the third year for the conference, but Ritholtz and company have been doing conferences for 15 years. I applied for a green card after working on my H-1B visa for a year. By this point, I had lived in the US for about six years and created a whole life here, but the green card process was very painful. The process makes life pretty horribleHaving a work visa and going through the green card process are privileges, but it is very hard to separate the emotional component. Luckily, Microsoft paid for the attorneys in the green card process, and no cost came out of my pocket. In 2022, I finally received my green card after three years.

It's ironic, given that I now run two fitness businesses and my main passion is getting women into strength training. I now run two fitness businesses that combined made over $70 million last year. What strength training does for your mind and body is profound; it's so empowering. It was good for SEO but contradicted our message and ethos, which is that strength training is about more than just how your body looks.

Three Israeli hostages, whose bodies were found last year in underground tunnels in Gaza, were likely killed in a military airstrike aimed at a Hamas commander, an investigation into their deaths concluded. The IDF said this was a "high probability" assessment but that it was "not possible to definitively determine" the cause of the three hostages' deaths. Both Beizer and Sherman were members of the Israeli military. Earlier this month, the IDF said it found the bodies of six hostages killed by Hamas and returned them to Israel. The IDF estimated that 101 hostages remain in Gaza.

AdvertisementIt's a story all too familiar for some older Americans: An unexpected health crisis derails their retirement planning. With insufficient help from health insurance or Social Security, medical bills eat up any savings or income they have. Jones, who gets $2,200 a month in Social Security, has had to take on part-time work, which made her ineligible for some federal assistance. She paid for chemo out of pocket, spending her way through her retirement savings and maxing out her credit cards. Amend said it's crucial for older Americans to believe everything will be OK, noting "your mindset perpetuates what your outcome will be."

My mom is a little old-fashioned and has been upset with me for letting my boyfriend significantly influence my financial decisions. She has said multiple times that a man should have no say in my finances until he's put a ring on my finger. One, your mom has hard-won life experiences to offer, and you would be wise to hear her out. Only that we shouldn't reject our parents' advice out of hand simply because they're "old-fashioned" or we think they're "projecting". Instead, it's about nobody having a say over anyone else's finances until they have a genuine stake in them.
