CNN —Rize province, on the Black Sea coast near Turkey’s northeast border with Georgia, is still largely unknown to many international travelers. Away from Rize itself – the seaside city which lends its name to the province – the area’s valleys and plateaus, surrounded by high-altitude mountain ridges, have remained largely rural. With high rates of rainfall, Rize’s mountain villages (yayla) become a point of escape from summer temperatures. “The state of tourism in Rize is not very pleasant because visitors often arrive without much knowledge about the local culture or the nature. “I think the purpose of coming to Rize shouldn’t be to rush through everything and take a few selfies.

Ron DeSantis is campaigning for president, touting his record in Florida and dragging Walt Disney World through the mud everywhere he goes. Then, DeSantis lobs an incendiary accusation: Disney, by opposing the schools bill, was promoting the "sexualization of children." Part of Disney's hurdle in the courts would be that DeSantis' statements are his own opinion. Similarly, even though DeSantis appears ready keep raising Disney at every campaign stop, a defamation lawsuit would take on another dimension that gets loads of news coverage. Even though Disney would be the plaintiff in a defamation lawsuit, materials uncovered during discovery could put Disney in the position of defending its internal communications or business practices.

NEW YORK, June 30 (Reuters) - The U.S. government has urged an appeals court to uphold Ghislaine Maxwell's conviction and 20-year prison sentence for helping the disgraced late financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse teenage girls. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan, federal prosecutors said none of Maxwell's legal arguments about the fairness of her trial held merit. Epstein committed suicide at age 66 in August 2019 in a Manhattan jail cell, where he was awaiting trial for sex trafficking. Maxwell's accusers have said she and Epstein at first made them feel welcome in their orbit, before Epstein began demanding sexualized massages. DeSantis made over $1 million for his book advance when he wrote "The Courage to Be Free." Ron DeSantis almost quadrupled his net worth in a year, thanks to a seven-figure payday from his bestselling memoir, "The Courage to be Free." A year earlier, DeSantis' net worth was nearly $319,000. The lift in salary was largely thanks to a $1.25 million book advance DeSantis got from Broadside Books, the conservative arm of HarperCollins Publishing that is owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. Since filing his last financial disclosure, DeSantis lowered the amount he owes on his student loans slightly, from $21,284.92 to $18,628.66.

The woman, Jeanie Dubnau, an 84-year-old housing activist and molecular biologist, said in an interview afterward that her Jewish family had fled Europe during the Holocaust. Mr. Adams, the city’s second Black mayor, has often raised concerns about racism when he has felt under attack. More recently, he has twice compared himself to Kunta Kinte, a character from the 1977 television series “Roots” who was beaten for refusing to accept the slave name Toby. Mr. Adams also claimed recently that there was a “coordinated” effort to prevent him from winning a second term. When asked who was coordinating that effort, the mayor again compared himself to Kunta Kinte and said, “There’s a body of people who were pleased with 30 years without having a mayor that looked like me.”

There ain’t no party like a Jay Gatsby party — in “The Great Gatsby,” F. Scott Fitzgerald’s debonair poster boy of American ambition and the nouveau riche never lets the festivities stop. Neither does Immersive Everywhere’s “The Great Gatsby: The Immersive Show,” a jovial feast for the senses that never, in its lagging two-and-a-half-hour running time, truly rises above the status of a mere attraction. Gatsby’s neighbor, Nick Carraway, narrates Gatsby’s tragic — and, ultimately, fatal — fall from the world of the rich and famous. Gatsby hopes to woo Nick’s cousin Daisy, with whom he had a love affair that he’s never forgotten. Main plot points, including major introductions and confrontations, are played as set scenes that everyone witnesses together in the main space.

Court filings show how Jeffrey Epstein exerted power in the US Virgin Islands, two of which he owned. A financier worth hundreds of millions of dollars, Epstein owned two islands in the US Virgin Islands (there are roughly 50 islands overall). He had donated generously to Democratic politicians from the US Virgin Islands for years. With the assistance of the US Virgin Islands' first lady, Epstein navigated the territory's political waters unscathed. The court records show that, at least in the US Virgin Islands, he exerted influence with little friction.

French Montana Lists His Los Angeles Mansion

Karim Kharbouch, better known by his stage name French Montana, is bidding adieu to his 1.35-acre compound in Los Angeles’s exclusive Hidden Hills neighborhood, asking $22.75 million for the seven-bedroom, nine-bath home in one of the city’s most celebrity-studded communities. The Moroccan-born rapper bought the home in late 2020 from the basketball player Paul George, an all-star forward for the Los Angeles Clippers. He paid $8.4 million, which was something of a bargain: Mr. George had initially asked $9.5 million for the property, which is tucked behind gates on grounds that include a full-size basketball court, a fire pit, pool and spa with stone decking, and garages for five cars, and was willing to take the $1 million price cut after the property languished on the market for six months.
