A Facebook post (archived) shared an image of nine astronauts posing for a photo while three pieces of fruit appear to be resting on a surface. It was also shared by NASA and the European Space Agency. “Crew aboard the International Space Station use a variety of fasteners, like tape or hook and loop, on the space station’s tabletop to help prepare food during meals,” Joshua Finch, a spokesperson for NASA said in an email to Reuters. He mentions throughout the video that items are secured down, in this case with tape and Velcro, to keep them from floating away. This photo shows food attached to a surface in the International Space Station.

"We think the meeting shows the intention from both sides to restore bilateral relations. This could help reduce near-term risk of escalatory confrontation," Morgan Stanley analyst Robin Xing wrote in a Thursday note. This also indicates a continued reduction in direct foreign investment and technology spillover to China, Xing said, which could weigh on China's long-term growth outlook. Moving forward, the analyst believes that further stimulus and reforms in China are needed to help stabilize market confidence in the country. According to Piper Sandler analyst Andy Laperriere, the economic and geopolitical relationships between the U.S. and China will remain locked in competition.

Human Material Loop hopes to transform the fashion industry by turning human hair into a textile. According to Human Material Loop, 72 million kilograms of human hair waste end up in European landfills every year, the equivalent in weight of seven Eiffel Towers. Human Material Loop used hair to insulate this jacket. For Kollar, it’s not simply about wearing a jumper made from human hair for the novelty or sustainability aspect; she argues that human hair is an incredibly durable material. Visser says ultimately the implementation of human hair in our products isn’t simple.

The promise and risks of deep-sea mining

The promise and risks of deep-sea mining A vast treasure of critical minerals lies on the ocean floor. All of these factors make deep-sea mining more appealing, supporters say. Environmentalists, however, say it’s a false dichotomy, as land mining will continue whether or not deep-sea mining is allowed. Any country can allow deep-sea mining in its territorial waters, and Norway, Japan and the Cook Islands are close to allowing it. For now, the ISA's members are hotly debating the best standards for deep-sea mining.

FTC Chair Lina Khan said she's successfully used ChatGPT to contest a medical bill. AdvertisementThe head of the Federal Trade Commission recently shared that she's successfully used ChatGPT to contest a medical bill. Doctors have used ChatGPT to help communicate with patients more compassionately, with some using ChatGPT just 72 hours after it was released to the public. And plenty of Americans encounter stress while navigating situations involving their medical bills, not just the chair of the FTC. "When it comes to medical bills, Americans are often caught in a doom loop between their medical provider and insurance company," CFPB Director Rohit Chopra said in a statement last year.

Sometimes I miss the good old days when Donald Trump could be shocking. It’s really hard to imagine something he could say now that would throw us for a loop. You probably heard that on Veterans Day he celebrated the men and women who’ve fought for American democracy by promising to “root out” his liberal opponents. Don’t know if any other president has called people he disagreed with “vermin.” Maybe Warren Harding? C. Probably watched “I Led 3 Lives” while growing up in the 1950s.

Seven Bridges Trail is a 2-mile loop in Grant Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While visiting my hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a family friend recommended I take some time to hike Seven Bridges Trail. I grew up in the area and have visited many of its parks and hiking areas, but I'd never heard of that one. Upon further research, I found that Seven Bridges Trail is located in South Milwaukee's Grant Park, a 381-acre oasis with 2 miles of shoreline along Lake Michigan, according to Milwaukee County Parks. My dad also grew up in Wisconsin and has ridden his bike through Grant Park dozens of times, but even he had never heard of Seven Bridges Trail.

CNN —Across the political spectrum, there’s a consensus that social media is dangerous. Director Kristoffer Borgli’s latest film, “Dream Scenario,” half builds on, half parodies those fears and anxieties for its absurdist plot. It also suggests, though, that the dynamics and dangers of online existence aren’t exactly new and aren’t exactly about social media at all. “Dream Scenario” is about how, even before we could see short hip hop dance videos on loop, we’ve always been in each other’s skulls. As “Dream Scenario” suggests, for better and worse, to be human is to dream together.

Two recession indicators are on the verge of flashing as the unemployment rate ticks higher and the yield curve uninverts. "With labor supply increasing, we're not sure the Sahm rule, even if it triggers, would really be indicative of a recession." Last month, the unemployment rate rose to 3.9%, up 50 basis points from its cycle low of 3.4% in April. "That's why a small increase in the unemployment rate can be really bad news, because it keeps going," she explained.

Many people subsequently turned to remote work, and the workforce recovered but only to be plunged into three years of an incredibly tight labor market. Today, the unemployment rate is at 3.9% following an increase in October from the prior’s month’s 3.8% level, and by most measures the labor market is considered very strong. “It does seem like the labor market is getting a little more balanced,” says Gene Tannuzzo, global head of fixed income at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. The overwhelmingly takeaway is that the labor market has defied most predictions and shown a level of resiliency and adaptability that has surprised many observers. This was the “excess retirements” who were causing the labor market to be exceptionally tight.

It comes nearly 40 years after the gallery’s initial 1986 show of Picasso sketchbooks, called “Je Suis le Cahier (I am the Sketchbook)" after a notation Picasso made on one of his pads — which subsequently toured the globe.
