I was surprised this week to note the large number of health-care names represented on the new highs list. Here are three stocks in the health-care sector that could provide further upside potential based on their improving technical characteristics. That all changed in November, when BSX finally broke above this well-established resistance level, pushing into the upper $50s this month. From November 2022 to June 2023, AMGN dropped from around $295 to $215, shedding about 27% of its value in just seven months. With any breakouts like this one, it's important to watch the previous resistance level which often serves as price support going forward.

Here's a breakdown of the bitcoin chart and what to watch for to confirm that the cryptocurrency is resuming its long-term trend back to all-time highs. A quick glimpse of BTC's chart shows that the last five months have been peppered with additional breakouts and overbought readings. Bigger picture, this is the most important chart pattern we're watching right now. For bitcoin, that gets us to a target near $66,500, which is right in line with its former, all-time highs. Zooming even further out, last year's bounce allowed bitcoin to maintain the same uptrend line it's been riding for years.

Nvidia (NVDA) was surprisingly quiet in the back half of 2023 despite some amazing earnings beat-and-raise quarters. Only just on Monday did NVDA finally break free from the technical range that held the stock captive below the undoubtedly psychologically important $500 resistance level. I think the answer is yes, there's more room for the stock to run. Finally breaking $500 Back to Nvidia, the clear winner of the massive rotation into semiconductors as we charge towards the exponential age. Read previewThe US housing market is facing historic unaffordability and it's kept countless Americans sidelined or forced to face hefty monthly home payments. This lock-in effect has created a tale of two markets: those who have been crushed by high mortgage rates and those who have mostly gotten by unaffected. Many Americans secured lower mortgage rates during the pandemic. AdvertisementBut in 2023, that dearth of supply for existing homes was a boon for homebuilders — and Wall Street took notice. The owner of a hot dog diner in Oklahoma enjoyed a sales boom after a sad photo of him went viral. Scott Hosek told local media that business was lagging amid the Christmas period. The diner has been busy after a customer posted a photo of him looking mournfully out his window. Hosek told USA Today that business had increased significantly since Chappel's December 20 post, reversing from a pre-Christmas customer dip. The restaurant saw an entire week's worth of sales in one day, Hosek told ABC affiliate KOCO.

The broad monster rally which started in November has shown no signs of stalling yet, but it will eventually. We'll present an options trade here to capitalize on that sector rotation, specifically how to bet against an industry likely to see outflows. If the healthcare sector keeps pulling back, most of the stocks in this sector will also tend to pull back. This is a lot of money for a mere $600 potential profit. Since I am paying a debit to buy the $420 call, it also reduces my profit potential to $155.

The unemployment rate has edged higher this year, Americans are taking longer to find new jobs, and wage growth is slowing. New Labor Department data on job openings, to be released Tuesday, and Friday’s November jobs report could provide additional clues about if the historically tight labor market is starting to loosen.

CBOT March wheat found contract lows on Nov. 27 but touched three-week highs by Friday, presumably motivated by short covering. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ten of the top albums of the year, as chosen by Associated Press Music Writer Maria Sherman. The analyst community (which forecasts individual stock earnings and prices) is also making estimates for 2024. Unfortunately, like their macroeconomic strategist brethren, Wall Street analysts also have a long history of being wrong on their forecasts. Since the S & P 500 rises in almost three out of four years, analysts are understandably a generally bullish group. There have been four years in the last 20 where the analyst estimates at the start of the year differed from the final estimates by a margin greater than 25%. No wonder the S & P 500 closed Friday at a new high for the year.

Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie Photo: neon‘Eileen” is about Eileen (Thomasin McKenzie), a young clerical worker at a juvenile penitentiary in 1960s Massachusetts. But the film, like the character, is besotted with someone else: Dr. Rebecca St. John, the new prison psychologist, fresh from Harvard and, as played by Anne Hathaway , a suave and sultry modern woman. “Some people, they’re the real people, like in a movie,” Eileen’s father says, no doubt summoning in his daughter’s mind a vision of Rebecca. “And other people, they’re just there.” We hardly need the next line to know who he’s talking about: “That’s you, Eileen.”Yet the narrative charts her transition, sparked by an act of violence, from a spectator of life to one of its decisive participants. The conclusion, grim and swift, makes the meaning of what preceded it wither slightly in the rear view, but there are some cinematic seductions along the way.

NAPERVILLE, Illinois, Nov 28 (Reuters) - It is rare that U.S. corn supplies build in a marketing year while soybean supplies slip, but that is exactly what is happening in 2023-24, keeping soybean prices relatively elevated versus corn. The U.S. Department of Agriculture pegs total U.S. corn supplies in 2023-24 to rise 10% on the year, while soybean inventory is seen shrinking 3%. U.S. corn versus soybean supply: Year-on-yearThe 2007-08 rise in corn and fall in soybean supplies was policy-driven, and the only other recent, directionally similar year was 2003-04, when the U.S. soybean crop fell victim to rare, widespread pest issues as well as dry weather. USDA’s long-term projections issued earlier this month suggest just that, pegging 2024 U.S. corn acres at 91 million and soybeans at 87 million versus 83.6 million in 2023. Interestingly, USDA in the couple of years leading up to 2007-08 had also overestimated U.S. soybean acres in March and undershot corn.
