It’s an unfamiliar question for deep-blue Maryland, which hasn’t had a Republican senator in nearly four decades. But the state’s typically sleepy Senate race has heated up this year after Larry Hogan, the popular former two-term Republican governor, decided to run. Now Democrats across the state are wringing their hands trying to figure out which of their candidates has a better shot at defeating Mr. Hogan. Perhaps because of the heightened stakes, the contest has turned increasingly negative as it has tightened, splitting Democrats in Congress and beyond. While congressional leaders have endorsed Mr. Trone, all but one Democrat in the state’s congressional delegation are backing Ms. Alsobrooks.

Remote work opportunities have fluctuated since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic but FlexJobs has seen a slight uptick in the companies actively recruiting for work-from-anywhere positions. To help job-seekers find the best remote, flexible gigs, FlexJobs has identified the most in-demand work-from-anywhere jobs companies are hiring for by analyzing its database for the work-from-anywhere jobs with the highest volume of postings between January and April 2024. Such jobs, however, are increasingly competitive to land, only accounting for about 5% of all remote roles, FlexJobs reports. Most remote jobs have location requirements, mainly due to state and federal regulations that dictate where companies can hire people and do business. If you're hoping to land a work-from-anywhere job, Spencer recommends highlighting in-demand soft skills that commonly appear in remote job ads, including project management and adaptability, on your resume and LinkedIn profile.

The company has also leaned into live comedy shows, broadcasting a slew of events including the recent roast of Tom Brady. But on its most recent earnings call in April, co-CEO Ted Sarandos said Netflix isn't "anti-sports, but pro-profitable growth." Conway teaches courses about sports leadership and management, and he spent much of his career as a marketing executive for two Major League Baseball teams. Over the past few years, Apple has bought the rights to air Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer games. CNBC reported last year that Netflix, as well as Amazon, Apple, Comcast's NBCUniversal/Peacock, had expressed potential interest in a contract.

Trump’s lead jumped to 9 points over Biden when Kennedy, Green Party candidate Jill Stein and independent Cornel West were included in the ballot test. (To make the debate stage, candidates must also appear on state ballots totaling at least 270 electoral votes. I should point out that third party and independent candidates tend to see their polling decline over the course of the campaign. Now, it’s quite possible that Kennedy voters will stick by him the more they hear about his positions. National polling for the most part has, after all, shown Kennedy voters prefer Trump to Biden, though not uniformly.

On X, Chili’s asked whether Chili’s is better than fast food, and promised rewards to those who said yes. Chili’s also ran video ads comparing its food favorably to fast food burgers. “People go to sit-down restaurants, generally speaking, for different occasions, than they go to fast food restaurants,” he noted.

Silver Spring, Maryland CNN —The farmers market in this suburb of Washington, DC, was a ripe crowd for Angela Alsobrooks, who’s locked in an increasingly contentious Senate Democratic primary on Tuesday. “I would really like to see a Black woman in the Senate. A federal judge in California dismissed a lawsuit filed by Elon Musk's X against Israel's Bright Data, in a case that involved the scraping of public online data and its appropriate uses. X, formerly Twitter, sued Bright Data, alleging the company "scrapes data from X" and sells it "using elaborate technical measures to evade X Corp.'s anti-scraping technology." He added that X was not "looking to protect X users' privacy," and was "happy to allow the extraction and copying of X users' content so long as it gets paid." Bright Data says it only scrapes publicly available data that's visible to anyone without a login. At the time of the suit's filing, X made the information Bright Data scraped available to anyone.

Now Netflix looks like it is close to a deal to stream two NFL games on Christmas Day, reports Puck's John Ourand, citing "a bevy of sources." Does that mean Netflix doesn't know how much it will pay for the games? The NFL declined to comment; Netflix didn't respond to a request for comment. I was slow to diversify my income and seek out new opportunities for passive income. Paying business expenses with my personal fundsWhile I do keep a close eye on my personal finances, that hasn't been the case with my business finances. In the past, I wouldn't have seen that charge for months, because I wasn't closely looking at my business expenses.

AI skeptics — who are legion, and not necessarily part of the fringe tin foil hat crowd — are begging Silicon Valley to take a beat before unleashing AI to the world. Then, the big reveal: It’s all contained in Apple’s new iPad, its thinnest and most powerful ever, thanks to its brand new AI chip. Meanwhile, is anyone else getting inundated with Google’s Pixel ads, which show people giddily using the smartphone’s AI photo-editing software to deceive their online followers? Apple is expected to announce its own ChatGPT-like tools that could be a game changer for your internet searches. Nascent 'griefbots' or 'deadbots' allow users to chat with the deceased. Safeguards should keep kids away from the bots and allow users to turn them off, a study suggested. AdvertisementAI could make your relatives haunt you from beyond the grave, researchers are warning. These bots use generative AI to allow people to have text and voice conversations with the deceased, using their past digital footprints to conjure a likeness. But AI ethicists at Cambridge's Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence warn that AI could one day push ads on grieving relatives or confuse children.

Roblox cut its annual bookings forecast on Thursday, in a sign that people were dialing back on spending within its video-gaming platform amid an uncertain economic outlook and elevated levels of inflation. Electronic Arts also gave a weak revenue forecast earlier this week. Roblox now expects full-year bookings to be between $4 billion and $4.10 billion, down from its earlier forecast of $4.14 billion to $4.28 billion. Its second-quarter bookings forecast of $870 million to $900 million was also below estimates. Roblox will build the infrastructure for the ad platform in 2024 and start providing forecast for ad revenue in 2025, Guthrie added.

Musi is a music-streaming app that has millions of users, especially among teens. It works by streaming music from YouTube, and unlike Spotify, it doesn't make deals with record labels. Wired reports that Musi is a free music streaming app out of Canada that's especially popular with teenagers. It essentially streams music from YouTube — and Musi runs its own ads against those streams.

Industry observers widely believe YouTube is taking in far less ad revenue than it should be, based on its share of view time. Why YouTube is big on live sportsYouTube also affirmed its commitment to the industry's most sought-after content, live sports. YouTube, TikTok, and Meta are fighting for ad spendA TikTok ban could have huge upside for YouTube. While YouTube is eating up more ad dollars, the platform is still behind Meta in terms of total video ad spend in the US, based on projected data from eMarketer. AdvertisementMeanwhile, TikTok has been gaining ground, with eMarketer predicting TikTok will have almost caught up to YouTube in terms of video ad dollars by 2025 in the US (assuming TikTok isn't banned). And like YouTube, the Chinese-owned app is also trying to take ad dollars away from TV networks and video streamers.
