My husband and I bought a house in 2020, and we decided to stick to a mortgage payment of $700. Here's how we decided on how large of a mortgage payment we could afford. Why we kept our numbers conservativeBased on the 28% rule, our income could have supported a much larger mortgage payment. In my opinion, opting for a smaller mortgage payment than we could technically afford opened up more room for financial flexibility. Since closing three years ago, our mortgage payment has grown to around $770 per month.

Burning Man attendees are returning home and local businesses are having to manage leftover mess. Burning Man organizers did not immediately respond to questions from The Associated Press about how the rain will impact the cleanup timeline. Next month, teams made up of federal employees and Burning Man organizers will again conduct a site inspection. Nevada U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, whose district includes the Black Rock Desert, said Burning Man is a positive event for the area. AdvertisementAdvertisementStill, Amodei said, Burning Man organizers have been good partners and have cleaned up after themselves in past years, as their event permit requires.

A three-legged black bear wandered onto the patio of a house in Florida. He trudged by the pool. He ambled up to a fish tank and gnawed on a container of guppy food. Then he went for the refrigerator, grabbed two cans of White Claw hard seltzer and tossed away a third. It was a typical day in the neighborhood of Magnolia Plantation — a subdivision of about 500 houses in Lake Mary, just north of Orlando — where the three-legged bear makes himself at home so often that residents have given him a name befitting a creature with just a trio of limbs: Tripod.

The driver of a Ram 1500 TRX defied the odds in a video of the vehicle driving over mud. Amid rainstorms and flooding at Burning Man, the pickup truck managed to escape the muddy playa. While others trudged through ankle-deep mud at Burning Man, the driver of a truck made by Stellantis's Ram brand appeared to power through the wet grounds of Black Rock City, Nevada. The Burning Man festival was hit with rainstorm over the weekend that left more than 73,000 stranded. RENO, Nev. (AP) — Thousands of Burning Man attendees trudged in sloppy mud on Saturday — many barefoot or wearing plastic bags on their feet — as flooding from storms swept through the Nevada desert, forcing organizers to close vehicular access to the counterculture festival. Revelers were urged to shelter in place and conserve food, water and other supplies. More than one-half inch of rain is believed to have fallen on Friday at the festival site, located about 110 miles (177 kilometers) north of Reno, the National Weather Service in Reno said. At least another quarter of an inch of rain is expected Sunday. "If it really turns into a disaster, well, no one is going to have sympathy for us," Jed said.

"I'm aware what I'm doing, it's unbelievably challenging to play at the highest level as I am now. And yeah, some days it's harder than others," Murray said. Isner, 38, won the longest professional tennis match in history against Frenchman Nicolas Mahut at Wimbledon in 2010, which lasted 11 hours and 5 minutes and took place over three days. The third seed has played second fiddle to Alcaraz and 23-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic at Flushing Meadows but put the field on notice with a first-round demolition of Attila Balazs. The social media platform Twitter rebranded to X, Elon Musk announced last week. It's been a whirlwind week for Twitter, or X — whatever you decide to call it now. But Elon Musk, long obsessed with the idea of a brand named X, trudged on in the face of disapproval from users. He said that the risky move could inject newfound excitement and interest into the social media company. "I would never bet against Elon Musk," Carr said.

Judge Maryellen Noreika kicked off Wednesday’s hearing on Hunter Biden’s proposed plea deal with the Justice Department by telling lawyers that they did not need to keep “popping” up and down every time she asked them a question. An exhausted Mr. Biden trudged out of Federal District Court in Wilmington, Del., looking a bit stunned, as his lawyers puzzled over what to do next. “You all are saying, ‘Just rubber stamp the agreement,’” said the judge. “I’m not in a position to accept or reject it. I need to defer.”

I was on stage at a conference, tasked with leading a conversation about the future of work from a Gen Z perspective. Those Gen Zers who've made it into the workforce — we range from age 11 to 26 — tend to agree with these ideas, studies show . So at this event and another I took part in last week, I expected to hear all the tropes : "Gen Z is entitled," "Gen Z just doesn't understand the way things work," "Gen Z is asking for too much." When we turned to the audience for questions, one attendee asked: "How do we start these conversations with Gen Zers?" Members of older generations often allude to the idea that Gen Zers are demanding the impossible .

In the new episode, the city is hit by a powerhouse of a snowstorm, but the protagonists have places to be. Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) is discussing her film at the Museum of Modern Art. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Che (Sara Ramirez) have to get to “Widow Con.” And Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is out in the snow searching drugstores on a complicated motherly mission to help her daughter Lily. Ahead of Episode 6, members of The New York Times’s Styles desk discussed the coats, patterns and earmuffs on display — sometimes barely visible through the squall — in the latest installment of the series. Jeremy Allen Carrie’s sweeping Moncler coat by Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli is a high point of this episode for me.

After all the hard work she put in to beat six rivals, including four Grand Slam champions, Jabeur had stood on the cusp of becoming the first Arab and first African woman to win a Grand Slam title. Luckily four-time major winner Kim Clijsters, who had lost her first four Grand Slam finals, was waiting in the wings to hug the distraught 28-year-old and offer her hope that her time will come. "We were crying together at the locker room," Jabeur told reporters. "Definitely this match, last year's match, the final of the U.S. Open, will teach me how to win these finals. Hopefully I will be like the others that failed a couple of times to do it and it (the win) will come after.

This Was No Ordinary Sunburn. What Was Wrong?

“You’re turning red!” The man reluctantly trudged toward the house. It wasn’t exactly a sunburn, or at least not the kind of burn his wife used to get that made her skin turn red and peel and hurt for days. His sunburn was itchy, not painful, and lasted an hour or two, sometimes a little more. He took the pills when he thought of it and slathered on the sunscreen some of the time, but he wasn’t sure it did much. After about 10 minutes he could see that he was getting pink, so he headed into the office.

Fired-up Stokes gives England hope of unlikely victory

Bairstow and Stokes looked bemused but Australia refused to withdraw the appeal and the right-hander trudged off to loud boos around the ground. Stokes, clearly fired up to play another match-winning innings as he did in the 2019 Ashes, went on the attack. Duckett and Stokes had batted cautiously after England resumed on 121-4, milking singles from the predominantly short-pitched bowling they faced. Stokes, on 39, was given out lbw to Mitchell Starc but the batsman reviewed immediately and replays showed the ball had hit the bat before striking his pad. Ilkay Gundogan (C) of Manchester City lifts the UEFA Champions League trophy after the team's victory in the UEFA Champions League 2022/23 final match against Inter at Ataturk Olympic Stadium. Manchester City completed the treble with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Istanbul. Having already overhauled Arsenal to retain the Premier League trophy and beaten Manchester United to lift the FA Cup at Wembley, this victory saw them match the achievement of their city rivals in 1999. City's task was made more difficult when Kevin De Bruyne trudged off injured in the first half, the second time in three seasons that he has departed a Champions League final with the game in the balance. The midfielder measured his finish, bending it beyond two Inter defenders and into the corner of the net to break the deadlock.

Two dozen National Guard troops quickly set about stretching coils of barbed wire across the cement base of the bridge where the migrants had been. Under the order known as Title 42, U.S. authorities could quickly turn back migrants without giving them a chance to seek asylum. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Sunday said the number of migrants crossing the border fell by half since the end of Title 42. A Dominican couple under the bridge told Reuters they had just reached Ciudad Juarez and had not heard of it. The Quebec government has said the increase in asylum seekers is straining its capacity to house people and provide basic services. "It felt like nothing could get in the way of all that," said a former engineer who attended the party. For this report, CNBC spoke with 16 current and former Peloton employees, the majority of whom declined to be identified because they are not permitted to speak publicly about the company. Foley, meanwhile, spoke briefly with CNBC by phone, saying that while Peloton's stock has fallen, the company has not. Peloton's stock price was slowly sliding down, and employees began to panic as they saw their paper wealth evaporate. By June 30, the end of Peloton's fiscal year, the company's full-year net loss ballooned to $2.83 billion.

COURCHEVEL, France, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Canada's James Crawford won the men's super-G by the slimmest of margins in a stunning upset at the Alpine skiing world championships on Thursday. Switzerland's World Cup overall leader Marco Odermatt was fourth and surprisingly out of the medals on a course set by the Swiss coach. The 25-year-old is the first Canadian super-G world champion since Erik Guay in St Moritz in 2017. Austria's 2021 super-G champion Vincent Kriechmayr finished 12th. Italy's Dominik Paris, the 2019 super-G world champion, crashed heavily at speed after pushing too aggressively and catching a ski edge on a gate.

Poloncarz updated the death toll from the blizzard on Wednesday, reporting 37 deaths in Erie County, with one other storm-related fatality in neighboring Niagara County. The goal was to get at least one lane of traffic open on each street by Wednesday night, Poloncarz said. The mercury climbed above freezing on Wednesday, and forecasts called for the thaw to continue with spring-like temperatures and showers likely by week's end. "We're actually expecting a rapid melt over the next two days, because we're going to hit 50 degrees (Fahrenheit)," Poloncarz said. Showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Gulf Coast and lower Mississippi Valley, the weather service said.
Two years later, the wealthy Coen family contracted Gonzalez to promote their Grupo Coen conglomerate in three world title fights in exchange for a house worth $150,000. Gonzalez's relationship with Grupo Coen also fractured. In 2019, he sued Grupo Coen after it refused to pay the boxer, claiming he didn't contest enough world title fights to fullfil his contract. This year, the courts awarded an extra $150,000 to Gonzalez against Grupo Coen, according to court documents seen by Reuters. Grupo Coen declined to comment.
