The woman continues to pretend to order a pizza. She was also able to tell the 911 dispatcher that she was being held by one man, that he was not armed and that she was hurt.

A woman died on Saturday after backing into plane's propeller while trying to take a picture at an airfield in Kansas, officials said. At least one person is dead and others are injured after an equipment malfunction trapped nearly two dozen people underground in a Colorado tourist mine, officials with the Teller County Sheriff's Department said Thursday. Eleven people have been rescued, the sheriff’s office said, and officials are working to get to the 12 people who remain in the mine. The sheriff's office said those rescued reported neck and back pain, and others said they were traumatized by the event. Two children were involved, officials said, but no other details about the people in the incident have been provided. Officials from the Teller County Sheriff's Office earlier made clear that the mine did not collapse and the incident occurred as a result of an equipment malfunction.

But residents in St. Lucie County faced an entirely different threat: fatal tornadoes that were “supercharged” compared to typical hurricane-spawned tornadoes, National Hurricane Center Director Michael Brennan told CNN Thursday. “Their whole homes with them inside were lifted up, moved, destroyed,” St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson said. The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office was damaged in Fort Pierce as Hurricane Milton crossed into Florida. “There’s no way we could have predicted this type of activity because this is just not precedented,” Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin told CNN’s Jim Acosta on Thursday morning. Five people are dead after a small plane crashed on Catalina Island off the California coast on Tuesday, officials said. The Federal Aviation Administration said Wednesday the twin-engine Beechcraft 95 crashed shortly after it departed from Catalina Airport in Avalon at around 8 p.m. A joint search and rescue team comprised of Avalon station deputies, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Avalon Search and Rescue and Avalon City Fire Department members found the plane about a mile west of Catalina Airport, according to the Sheriff's Department's news release. Part of the Channel Islands, Santa Catalina Island is located about 22 miles southwest of Los Angeles. Catalina Island Airport has a single, 3,000-foot-long runway and occupies a 1,602-foot-tall mountaintop at the center of the island.

A man fell to his death while he was canyoneering in Utah's Zion National Park on Saturday, the National Park Service said in a release. The man, 40, died after he accidentally fell near the exit of Heaps Canyon around 6 p.m., the park service said Sunday. The man was canyoneering with three other people when he fell 150 to 200 feet, the NPS said. The Zion National Park Technical Search and Rescue Team and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded and gave emergency medical care to the man, the NPS said. Both the park and the sheriff's office are investigating the death, the NPS said.
