PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — Jesse Eisenberg had not seen “Succession” when he was writing his new film “A Real Pain.” But his sister Hallie Eisenberg knew from years of watching Roman Roy that Kieran Culkin would be perfect. Eisenberg had wanted to play the spontaneous one, which was similar to a character he'd played on stage in “The Spoils” in England. They’d met previously through their mutual friend Emma Stone, who also produced “A Real Pain,” but he really didn’t know him well. His hope is that “A Real Pain” speaks to a cross-cultural, universal experience — though he’s also worried that sounds too much like a commercial. In addition to trying to sell “A Real Pain,” Eisenberg is also starring in “Sasquatch Sunset,” about a family of Sasquatches.

Goldman Sachs is already raising its 2024 stock market forecast, and the new year isn't even here yet. The S & P 500 rallied 5% in the past month to already meet Kostin's original 2024 forecast of 4,700 for the new year that he gave back in November . "Lifting our 12-month S & P 500 target to 5100 as inflation falls, the Fed turns dovish, and real yields plunge," wrote Kostin in a note Friday. The 10-year Treasury yield, which scared equity investors by rising above 5% back in October, has tumbled to 3.9%. According to Goldman, the typical member of this basket will return four times as much as the median S & P 500 member but with the same level of volatility.

The dark realityThough armchair sleuths can have their benefits, a lot of information shared about true crime can be misinformed, insensitive, or exaggerated. Paleontologists recently described the previously unknown mosasaur from fossils found near the North Dakota town of Walhalla. The town’s name comes from Valhalla, the feasting hall of Norse mythology where dead heroes gather, so the scientists dubbed the mosasaur Jormungandr walhallaensis. This combination of traits convinced the researchers that what they were looking at was a new genus and species. Here is a line drawing of the skull of the Jormungandr walhallaensis.

(AP) — A federal judge on Monday dismissed Brett Favre’s defamation lawsuit against fellow retired NFL player Shannon Sharpe, ruling that Sharpe used constitutionally protected speech on a sports broadcast when he criticized Favre's connection to a welfare misspending case in Mississippi. Discussion of Mississippi welfare spending on “Undisputed” took place after extensive news coverage about allegations of Mississippi's largest public corruption case. Favre is not facing criminal charges, but he is among more than three dozen people or businesses the state is suing to try to recover misspent welfare money. In addition to suing Sharpe, Favre filed defamation lawsuits earlier this year against White, the auditor, and sportscaster Pat McAfee, who is a former NFL punter. Favre has repaid $1.1 million he received for speaking fees from a nonprofit group that spent TANF money with approval from the Mississippi Department of Human Services.

Options trading may seem tricky, but Goldman Sachs has found a simple, profitable strategy. That options strategy is called overwriting. However, only one strategy has beaten the market for the last 18 years. This was a particularly effective strategy for stocks in the information technology and the consumer staples sectors. To that end, Marshall searched for stocks that have both a market cap within the top two-thirds of Goldman Sachs' stock coverage universe, as well as implied volatility in the top two-thirds of all the stocks Goldman Sachs analysts cover.

When it was raising fresh money from investors in 2020, one slide on the pitch deck for the hedge fund Schonfeld Strategic Advisors got to the heart of the issue: "Why Schonfeld?" A hedge fund recruiterAmid the weakness, the fund has begun to prune costs. Steve Schonfeld (class of 1977) and Brad Tolkin (class of 1976) attended Roslyn High School in Roslyn Heights, New York. Tolkin told Insider in 2019 that the firm's goal was no less than becoming "the premier equities hedge fund globally." While Steven Schonfeld's 20% annual-return goals would've been ambitious for any sizable hedge fund, returns have also lagged behind peers.
