A masked bandit sent Spirit Airlines passengers scurrying at LaGuardia Airport in New York City on Monday, when a raccoon was spotted busting through a ceiling tile. Video shows the raccoon dangling from a cord from inside a ceiling tile next to the Spirit Airlines counter. As screams filled the budget airline’s terminal, another video showed someone was carrying what seemed to be a trash can in an effort to catch the raccoon. Spirit Airlines confirmed that there were no injuries reported. But the renovations didn’t include the scene of the stowaway critter: the airport’s Terminal A.

Rudy Giuliani (C) arrives at the New York court following a judge's order compelling his appearance in the defamation case filed by Georgia election workers in New York, United States on November 07, 2024. "All the property must be turned over to the receiver and if not, I will hold him in contempt," the judge told Caruso, whose client was by turns angry, animated and frustrated during the proceeding. "The vast majority of physical property, we have no idea where it is," Nathan said at Thursday's hearing. Nathan alleged that Giuliani has opened secret bank accounts and created limited liability companies on the heels of the defamation verdict last year. Before he entered court Thursday, Giuliani fumed over a judge's order that he show up in person saying it is "like a political persecution."

Rachael "Raygun" Gunn has announced that her professional break dancing career is over, citing the online reaction to her Paris Olympics performance. The Australian dancer — who went viral for her unorthodox performance at the 2024 Olympic Games — said that while she still breaks, she's not going to compete anymore. She was awarded zero points at the Olympics, leading many to wonder how she qualified for the Games to begin with. As videos of her performances went viral, so did conspiracy theories about her entry into the competition. While her competitive days may be behind her, Gunn seems to have found another way to keep her love for breaking alive.

Next door in the 7th District, GOP state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie defeated Democratic Rep. Susan Wild, who had flipped a GOP seat in a 2018 special election. Republicans also flipped an open seat in Michigan’s 7th District, after Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin decided to run for the Senate. Because California is notoriously slow in counting ballots, some of the half-dozen hyper-competitive races there — critical to which party wins the House majority — likely will take days. In the 27th District, GOP Rep. Mike Garcia was narrowly beating Democrat George Whitesides with 65% of the vote in. In another California battleground race, NBC News projected Wednesday that GOP Rep. Kevin Kiley has defeated Democrat Jessica Morse.

Three-time Emmy-winning journalist and Los Angeles TV news anchor Chauncy Glover died unexpectedly on Tuesday, his family announced. His family announced the news in a statement to KCAL, writing: "We, Sherry and Robert Glover, along with Chauncy’s beloved family, are devastated by the unimaginable loss of our beloved Chauncy. Before working with KCAL in Los Angeles, Glover was the first Black male main anchor for Houston’s KTRK, where he was on the air for eight years, according to KCAL. One of his accomplishments outside of his journalistic career was founding "The Chauncy Glover Project," a mentoring program created to help develop "inner-city teenage boys into upstanding and accomplished gentlemen," according to its website. "Chauncy’s compassion and dedication to helping others, especially through the Chauncy Glover Project, changed countless lives and inspired so many young men to pursue their dreams,” his family wrote in their statement.

Rudy Giuliani has yet to surrender any of the valuables he was ordered to turn over to the two election workers he defamed, their lawyers say — including the Mercedes he was spotted riding around in Tuesday in Palm Beach, Florida. That includes some of Giuliani's prized Yankees memorabilia, including a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey and an autographed Reggie Jackson picture. Citing Nathan's allegations, Liman on Tuesday ordered Giuliani to appear before him in New York on Thursday, and rejected a request from Giuliani's lawyer that the hearing be held remotely or in-person next week. He also said that Freeman and Moss were trying to leave the former New York City mayor "penniless and homeless," and that Giuliani wasn't being evasive. The expensive furniture Giuliani had used in real estate photos of the property earlier this year was moved out four weeks ago, he said. Josh Ritchie/Bloomberg/Getty Images“We note that broadcasts, such as those described above, currently provide Mr. Giuliani’s only source of earned income,” Giuliani’s attorney, Kenneth Caruso, told the court. Moss and Freeman’s team have already complained to the judge about Giuliani using the car on Tuesday, submitting to the court the photos. Separately, Giuliani’s lawyers say the property that was in the Manhattan apartment is now in a storage facility on Long Island, but Freeman and Moss’ team say they are struggling to get access to the items there, too.

The Trump campaign and surrogates began filing lawsuits the very same day, challenging the results on a variety of grounds well before the final votes were counted. In Arizona, voters and the Trump campaign filed a lawsuit alleging thousands of people in Maricopa County had their ballots disqualified because of ink-bleed caused by Sharpies. In Wisconsin, Trump filed a lawsuit alleging widespread voter fraud and demanding a recount, which ultimately reaffirmed Joe Biden’s victory in the state. Giuliani has been disbarred in New York and D.C., indicted in Georgia and Arizona and has been ordered to turn over his Manhattan apartment and other property to two Georgia election workers he defamed. And dozens of ethics complaints against local attorneys who filed election challenges are still pending nationwide.

A dead newborn baby girl was found in a baby drop-off box in Idaho on Oct. 13, police said this week. Upon removal, they realized the infant had been dead long before being placed in the baby box, according to a news release on Monday from Safe Haven Baby Boxes on Facebook. Safe Haven Baby Boxes provide a secure and anonymous way for parents to safely surrender their newborns. Two starkly different House candidates, in separate races, personify the intensifying ideological partitioning occurring within the once strongly Democratic constituency of Latino voters, whose numbers are growing. Their highly competitive races, along with a few other California congressional races, have pushed Latino voters to the front lines of the bitter fight for control of the House. “We have centered on Latino voters in our campaign,” said Whitesides, whose wife is of Cuban and Salvadoran heritage. In the same poll, 52% of Latino voters in District 27 said they support Whitesides, compared to 24% for Garcia and 24% completely undecided. In the last presidential election, Latino turnout was very high, and now it “actually is approaching the turnout rate for non-Latinos,” Vargas said.

Those rules were designed to prevent a repeat of the abuses of Richard Nixon, who improperly used the Justice Department to punish his political enemies. A new president appoints roughly 300 senior Justice Department officials, including the U.S. attorneys who run offices across the country. All 300 must be confirmed by the Senate, but multiple former Justice Department officials said they fear Trump would install partisans willing to do his bidding. Justice Department officials have risen to the occasion and defied presidential overreach in the past. The cheese, worth over $390,000, was taken from London cheese specialist Neal’s Yard Dairy on Oct. 21, the company said in an Instagram post. Three cheeses from three different suppliers were stolen: Hafod Welsh organic cheddar, Westcombe cheddar, and Pitchfork cheddar. Neal's Yard Dairy said that "despite the significant financial blow," they've paid each of their artisan cheesemakers in full for their products. Oliver said that as the world’s most consumed cheese type, a cheddar theft affects exports to 20 different countries. The whereabouts of the stolen cheese have yet to be determined.

Over eight years after a Florida woman and her 8-year-old daughter went missing, the FBI has arrested the young girl's father in connection with their disappearance. Gustavo Castaño Restrepo, 55, was indicted for kidnapping resulting in death for the disappearance of his ex, Liliana Moreno, and the pair's daughter, Daniela, according to authorities. According to the FBI, Moreno and her daughter were last seen on May 30, 2016, in or near the Home Depot on Okeechobee Road in Hialeah. Detectives told NBC affiliate NBC6 that the day they went missing, Restrepo went to pick up Moreno and her daughter, and the couple got into an argument.
