The U.S. economy added 175,000 jobs overall , well below Wall Street expectations.
Job growth stumbled in April, with a few previous areas of strength showing meager job additions or even losses.
The slower job growth could be good news on the inflation front but will raise concerns about a broader economic slowdown.
The overall picture is one of a steady labor market with disinflationary growth," Pollak continued.
Job growth in transportation and warehousing also accelerated month-over-month with a gain of 21,800.
