REUTERS/Matias Baglietto Acquire Licensing RightsCompanies Ypf Sa FollowNov 8 (Reuters) - Argentina's national oil company YPF swung to a loss in the third-quarter, amid lower local oil prices and higher operating costs, the company said in a statement on Wednesday. Net loss in the period hit $137 million, from a $693 million profit the previous year. The state-run producer's revenue decreased 15.9% to $4.5 billion during the July-to-September period, it said, citing "a drop in local fuel prices in dollars." The results come despite the steady uptick in oil and gas production in recent years from western Argentina's massive Vaca Muerta shale formation, one of the biggest in the world.

To studio executives who negotiated with the SAG-AFTRA president, the former star of "The Nanny" prolonged a strike while she relished her high-profile role. As president of the 160,000-member SAG-AFTRA union, Drescher won widespread praise from performers for her tenacity in fighting for better wages and protections against the rising threat of artificial intelligence technology. Drescher framed her actions as part of a broader labor movement battling Corporate America, where, in her view, executives place Wall Street's approval and their own compensation ahead of the welfare of workers. Studio executives, who declined to criticize Drescher publicly to avoid inflaming labor talks, said the 66-year-old Drescher delivered similar unvarnished critiques to industry leaders during closed-door negotiations. "Her interest as the union president is to see all performers, from background to the top 2%, succeed in a vibrant industry for the next century and beyond."

Zambia will pay about $750 million in the next decade compared to almost $6 billion that was due to official creditors before the debt restructuring. "The next step is to secure a comparable agreement with our private creditors," Zambia's finance minister, Situmbeko Musokotwane, said. Zambia is committed to remaining in arrears to its commercial external creditors, the ministry said, until it secures a debt deal with comparable terms to the official creditor agreement. It is unclear how long the signing of the agreements between Zambia and each bilateral creditor is going to take. On Thursday, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said Zambia had signed the MoU with official creditors, which was later walked back by Zambia's finance minister and the IMF.

Post Holdings is "a post-er child for strong free cash flow," according to JPMorgan. "Post generates strong cash flow, which may be applied in large quantities to reduce debt and buy back stock over the next two years," Goldman said in a Friday note. Over the past six years, Post's free cash flow conversion rate was a median 156%, well above the median larger-cap food producer's 92% median conversion rate. The company routinely engages in portfolio transformation and is "not afraid" to buy lower-growth assets as long as they offer consistent cash flow, Goldman said. The company prioritizes free cash flow over earnings and does not pay a dividend.

Negotiations between Exxon and Pioneer are advanced but have not yet led to an agreement over the acquisition of the largest oil producer in Permian basin. So far, shareholders profited as the share price more than doubled since early 2021 when activist investors publicly pushed for changes. Big Oil is responsible for the bulk of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions and pressure for action is building. "Investor pressure has decreased; they're backtracking... the big investors are enabling this," said climate investment group Follow This founder Mark van Baal. Privately, investors worried if Exxon bowed out of production, someone else would pick up the slack and nothing would be gained for shareholders or energy transfer.

Deal negotiations between Exxon and Pioneer are advanced but have not yet led to an agreement, Reuters reported on Thursday. These transactions were eventually allowed to be completed, and the regulator has not sued to thwart an oil and gas production deal since 2000. The lawyers and experts interviewed said the FTC would face an uphill struggle in challenging Exxon's attempted acquisition of Pioneer. "The modern U.S. experience is that oil and gas deals of any notable size get a close look. It sued to block the merger and only agreed to drop its objections after BP offered to divest oil production acreage in Alaska.

However, the rapid growth in solar supply capacity throughout Europe's electricity grids is already starting to erode producer profitability, as surplus power from solar sites depresses wholesale electricity prices and results in utilities earning shrinking revenues from renewables. However, since Russia's invasion of Ukraine snarled Europe's gas markets in 2022, Europe's power generators have accelerated the build-out of renewable energy capacity while cutting back on electricity generation from fossil fuels. However, those strong earnings may start to become harder to generate as additional volumes of solar capacity are brought online and compete with all other forms of generation to set wholesale electricity prices. California’s ‘Duck Curve’ electricity marketsEuropean solar power producers are not yet faced with anything like the problems seen in California, where solar can account for 40% of total electricity generation. But as more solar supply capacity gets added to Europe's generation system, solar producers must expect the extra competition from other solar sources to drive electricity prices lower for all electricity generators.

It was primarily a reaction to inflation, co-founder and CEO of the recruiting company WizeHire Sid Upadhyay told CNBC Make It last June.
