Intel is poised to add about $10 billion to its market value, based on its current price of $37. Intel's results lifted Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.O) and Nvidia (NVDA.O) by 3.2% and 2.3%, respectively, while Qualcomm (QCOM.O) advanced 2.6%. Although a titan of the American chip industry, Intel has fallen behind rivals such as Taiwan's TSMC and Nvidia both in terms of margins and market value as the PC market downturn and stiff competition in the data center market battered its business. Earnings reports from other chipmakers including Samsung (005930.KS) have also shown that the glut in the smartphone and PC markets is ending, but the outlook for demand from customers outside the AI industry remains gloomy. Intel has a 12-month forward price-to-earnings ratio of 31.10, compared with Nvidia's 43.26 and an industry median of 19.95.

The Allied Pilots Association (APA), which represents over 15,000 American Airlines pilots, did not specify the value of the revised deal. The American Airlines revised deal also provides pilots full back pay for this year. In line with United's deal, pay increases for American Airlines' pilots will now take place on January 1 instead of May 2 as provided in the original deal. An American Airlines spokesperson described the revised deal as a contract that its pilots deserve. Southwest Airlines (LUV.N) is now the only major U.S. carrier that is without a new pilot contract deal.

Deal cycles are back to closing at about 30 to 60 days in Q2, a Mizuho Bank report said. The demand for generative AI, which operates in the cloud, has driven the stabilization. The big cloud-computing budget cut could be subsiding thanks to generative AI, and Amazon Web Services could benefit massively, according to a new survey of CIOs from Mizuho Bank. CIOs who were focused on trimming cloud budgets in the first quarter are now looking to spend those savings on generative AI. Customers are especially excited about Bedrock, Amazon's foundational model for developers to build generative AI on, because of its privacy features, the survey said.

Donald Trump's calls for mass protests fell flat ahead of his NYC arraignment on Tuesday. By noon, more than 100 Trump backers had descended upon a park outside a Manhattan courthouse. By noon, more than 100 backers of the indicted ex-president had descended upon a park outside of the lower Manhattan courthouse where Trump will be arraigned. Overall, the pro-Trump crowd paled in comparison to the demonstrations and massive protests Trump called for before he was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury last week. Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also delivered a roughly 10-minute-long speech to a swarm of press and Trump backers at a park rally.
a hedge fund recruiter said, commenting on the calculus for hedge fund investors. At the end of 2021, the fund's exposure had been evenly split between fixed-income and equities, according to the investor documents. In all, more than 60 portfolio managers departed or were let go in 2022, according to the investor documents and people close to the matter. After the shakeup, ExodusPoint's income stream is now even more reliant on fixed-income trading — and that may not be such a bad thing. "The fixed income piece is doing incredibly well," another hedge fund recruiter said.
DAVOS, Switzerland, Jan 19 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia, which has bid to host the Expo 2030 world fair, is pushing ahead with plans to turn its capital Riyadh into a major global metropolis, a government official said on Thursday. Should Riyadh win Expo hosting rights it would be ready, but the build-up, which includes an additional 120,000 hotel rooms by 2030, was needed regardless to meet tourism goals, he said. The host country for the 2030 Expo is expected to be selected in November. Asked if alcohol would be allowed in Riyadh by 2030, Al Rasheed said: "No, but I think you can ... consider it a wellness detox." If Saudi Arabia wins its bid it would be the second Arab country to host Expo after the United Arab Emirates.

Seventh seed Gauff will meet former U.S. Open champion Raducanu for the first time in the second round of the Australian Open after both won their opening matches in straight sets at Melbourne Park. "Obviously she's gone through a lot of pressure, bursting onto the scene. I feel like probably more than I have experienced coming to win a Slam," Gauff told reporters after her 6-1 6-4 win over Katerina Siniakova. "Especially being from the U.K., the first British person to do something in a long time, probably is a lot more pressure than what I'm used to being an American. Now, Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys and Shelby Rogers were there to share the spotlight with her, said Gauff.
“I think this situation is a perfect example of why schools have Title IX obligations,” said Chloe Neely, the lawyer representing Riley in her Title IX complaint. Riley’s Title IX complaint accuses Cherokee County Schools, which has about 2,900 students, of not properly training school staff on how to respond to a complaint of harassment. “There usually aren’t any accountability measures in place to ensure compliance with Title IX,” said Meyer, who was not referring specifically to Cherokee County. The proposed Title IX changes are currently going through a federal review process and could be finalized later this year. Cherokee County Schools only opened its own investigation in early 2022, after Marcella filed the Title IX complaint and more than three months after the alleged assault.
Ahmad Abouammo had been found guilty by a jury in August following a trial in federal court in San Francisco. Abouammo's attorneys had asked U.S. District Judge Edward Chen for a probationary sentence at his home in Seattle with no prison time. The case focused on Abouammo's efforts to look up information on two Twitter users, a $42,000 watch he received from a Saudi official and a pair of $100,000 wire transfers. Twitter, recently acquired by Elon Musk, and the Saudi Embassy in Washington also did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The attorneys also said Abouammo's actions paled in comparison to those of Ali Alzabarah, another ex-Twitter employee, who was accused of accessing thousands of Twitter accounts on behalf of Saudi Arabia.
The company is also paying users directly via its Creator Fund and TikTok Pulse ad program. Instagram also pays some creators based on the number of views their Reels generate, offering "bonuses" for hitting certain short-video view thresholds. As with the Creator Fund, initial payments from TikTok Pulse have been underwhelming, creators told Insider. The creator RPMs were competitive on TikTok Pulse when compared to other ad programs like YouTube's, but the revenue-generating views were comparatively low, often dipping below 1,000 views. Former NFL football star Herschel Walker trailed Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock in Georgia, as the two headed to a Dec. 6 run-off election. But Trump-backed Senate candidates J.D. The populist priorities of his "America First" agenda and his combative political style also helped shape the overall Republican campaign. Save America contributed close to $30 million to political allies and Republican Party accounts, including $20 million in October to a group that ran television ads supporting Republican Senate candidates in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Arizona and Nevada. But Save America's contributions paled in comparison to spending by the Senate Leadership Fund, or SLF, a leading political action committee aligned with top Senate Republican Mitch McConnell.

Rich Rotella, 38, is an actor who had limb-lengthening surgery to advance his career. The surgery itself took four hours, but the recovery is the most time-consuming part — it's a slow, painful process. Rotella in a wheelchair after his limb-lengthening surgery. Rotella on a bike machine during his rehab from limb-lengthening surgery. I don't pay heed to negative reactions that I've gotten from the people around me who still think I was wrong to do this, because limb-lengthening surgery is just like any other cosmetic surgery.
Obtained by CNNCNN spoke with two Chinese citizens who scribbled protest slogans in bathroom stalls and half a dozen overseas Chinese students who put up anti-Xi posters on their campuses. Chen had tried to share the Sitong Bridge protest on WeChat, China’s super app, but it kept getting censored. But as the widespread anti-Xi posters have shown, the rising nationalistic sentiment is by no means representative of all Chinese students overseas. In the day following the protest in Beijing, Jolie saw on Instagram an outpouring of photos showing protest posters from all over the world. But the extensive censorship around the Sitong Bridge protest also betrays its paranoia.
I'd planned to move my stuff in a truck, but it would have cost over $1,300. Instead, I sold my belongings and made $500, which covered my $470 roundtrip flight to NYC. The cost of driving my stuff was over $1,300If I were to fly to Michigan from New York, a one-way ticket would cost about $200. I decided to sell my stuff insteadHowever, there were still some things in Michigan that I wanted, specifically some important documents, clothing, and other essentials. Back in New York, I had to buy some things I had sold, such as a bed frame and a desk.
Why you should reinstate the classic alarm clock

“You use an actual alarm clock?” they asked, as though it was a fax machine. It was years later, in 1874, when the French inventor Antoine Redier became the first person to patent an adjustable mechanical alarm clock. German clockmakers reportedly soon followed and by the end of the 1800s, the electric alarm clock had been invented. From riffs on the Panasonic RC-6025 radio alarm clock, immortalized in the 1993 film Groundhog Day, to more retro designs from classic brands like Roberts. All I was after, though, was a straightforward alarm clock, much like my original.
