A lot of parents today think the best way to educate kids is to be in total control. This is the foundation of "helicopter parenting," a very involved parenting style in which kids have little or no control of their daily activities. Studies have indicated that kids with helicopter parents who have high expectations for academic performance, or who overreacted when they make a mistake, tend to be more self-critical, anxious and vulnerable. But my biggest problem with helicopter parenting? And if their kids fail, they fail as well.
A photograph of two men holding a rainbow flag at a pride celebration in Paris has been altered to include two children. At this point, it’s about saying NO to freaks, perverts, narcissists and pedophiles!”Other examples can be seen (here) and (here). Are jerks more likely to get ahead at work?

Even worse, all the cutthroat role models we're surrounded by at work make us hesitant about being nice ourselves. In the social sciences, the technical term for jerks — those who are combative, selfish, and manipulative — is "disagreeable." Call this the jerk way. All in all, being a jerk doesn't help you get ahead — but it also doesn't hurt. Sutton's no-asshole rule has become widely adopted, and businesses like Atlassian have overhauled their performance reviews in part to ensure that "brilliant jerks" can't get ahead.
Though in far different fields, men like Ye (formerly known as Kanye West), Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Johnny Depp and Sam Bankman-Fried will forever be linked by this ignominious characteristic. Over the past 12 interminable months, America has witnessed the rantings of Hitler-loving Ye; Musk’s edgelord trolling on his new plaything, Twitter; Depp and his toxic TikTok fanboys; and Trump being Trump on any given day. While seemingly not vain like Ye or Depp or openly thuggish like Trump and Musk, he nonetheless exhibits traits that point to something sinister behind the “just-a-regular-dude” persona. Trump seems to be losing ground, and Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee finally took down their “Kanye. Musk asked Twitter users whether he should step down as CEO, and they voted “yes.”Unfortunately, until we address roots causes, there will always be another blustering bully, another Trump, another Ye.

One of the great delights on television at the moment is “The White Lotus,” HBO’s comedy-drama about terrible people vacationing in luxurious places. Set in its first season at a Hawaiian resort, and currently at a cliff-side Sicilian hotel (both part of the fictional White Lotus hotel chain), creator Mike White ’s series is a voyage into the empty lives and damaged psyches of the privileged class. Mr. White’s characters, for the most part, are rich maddening narcissists, incapable of joy. I love them all very much.

You may find yourself continually obeying a toxic boss despite how they treat you. Ronald Riggio, a professor of leadership psychology, told CNBC four key reasons why this happens. "A bad leader attracts henchpersons who surround them because they like being connected to a powerful person," Riggio told CNBC. 'Cognitive laziness'If you have a toxic boss, it can be very tempting to try and ignore the problem and tell yourself everything is fine because it's too much effort to do anything about it. Thinking good results mean good managementWhile you may see a manager's toxic behavior, others may just see that they're producing good results, which often hides their conduct, Riggio said.
