NEW YORK/LONDON, May 3(Reuters) - Suriname's government and international bondholders reached a deal to restructure nearly $600 million in debt, three sources with knowledge of the deal said on Wednesday. Suriname has two marketable bonds outstanding totaling just under $600 million . Neither the government nor the creditor committee immediately responded to requests for comment on the deal. Last month, the International Monetary Fund said it was working closely with Suriname authorities to bring their financing program back, while looking for progress in government talks with China, a key creditor. The IMF and Suriname engaged in a financing program for nearly $700 million in late 2021, but it stalled after the first review was approved more than a year ago.
REUTERS/Elizabeth FrantzApril 13 (Reuters) - The International Monetary Fund is working closely with Suriname authorities to bring their financing program back, while looking for progress in government talks with China, a key creditor, an IMF official said on Thursday. The IMF and Suriname engaged in a financing program for nearly $700 million in late 2021, but it stalled after the first review was approved more than a year ago. "The authorities are here right now, we're having discussions with them," Chalk said, adding that he looks forward for a mission visit soon to "deepen those discussions." "Having some more progress on the debt restructuring talks with China would really help us with the program, and help the country," he said. For months, Trump has been attacking DeSantis with the expectation that he'll challenge him for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. In the latest dig issued Friday morning, Trump reshared a video of DeSantis on Truth Social. In the clips, DeSantis shifts the pronunciation of his last name from "Dee-Santis" to "Deh-Santis." The question of how to pronounce "DeSantis" made headlines in 2018 when Trump endorsed the then-US congressman for the GOP nomination for governor. In 2018, the Tampa Bay Times suggested that Casey DeSantis rebranded DeSantis' name, under a story headlined "Tomato, Tomahto; Dee-Santis, Deh-Santis."
It's one of my favorite books, and the idea is relevant today because "Catch-22" is a fitting characterization of what's facing stocks and economy right now. Good news isn't good news and bad news is good news. To be sure, inflation remains hot, as we saw in Friday's Personal Consumption Expenditure data — the Fed's preferred inflation gauge. Even as many top commentators are split on the outlook for the economy, markets appear stuck digesting a host of mixed signals, from strong economic data on the one hand, to fears of higher rates on the other. The billionaire Tesla chief has warned that the central bank could crush the value of the entire stock market.

I'm senior reporter Phil Rosen, and below I'm sharing my conversation with Northwestern Mutual's chief investment officer, Brent Schutte. He sees the bond market as this year's best recession hedge. Phil Rosen: You said you're expecting a mild and brief recession this year. Brent Schutte: The good news is that the bond market has repriced, and the bond market is a hedge against that recession. BC: I do think earnings will come down this year, and cheaper equities give a margin of safety against that.

He noted that when it comes to cases of missing persons as part of government repression, it's never about just one person missing. Angelus' reach is widening now that prosecutors are beginning to show interest in it to help them solve their cases, Yankelevich said, visibly frustrated for the delay.
Retail traders unloaded $3.1 billion in assets this past week, making it the third worst week of net selling in history, according to JPMorgan. Overall, retail traders dumped $4.1 billion in single stocks. Tesla was hit particularly hard, with retail traders selling $811 million of the stock. Retail traders embraced the electric vehicle maker throughout the volatile year. However, some Wall Street analysts have pointed to his takeover of Twitter and his sale of 22 million Tesla shares as problematic for the stock.
[1/8] Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte responds to recommendations from a panel of experts to accept the role of the Netherlands in the history of slavery and its current consequences in The Hague, Netherlands December 19, 2022. "Today I apologise," Rutte said in a nationally televised speech at the Dutch National Archives. "For centuries the Dutch state and its representatives have enabled and stimulated slavery and have profited from it," he added. "It is true that nobody alive today bears any personal guilt for slavery...(however) the Dutch state bears responsibility for the immense suffering that has been done to those that were enslaved and their descendants." The panel said that Dutch participation in slavery had amounted to crimes against humanity and in 2021 recommended an apology and reparations.
APA ends drilling at Awari oil well off Suriname coast

Nov 28 (Reuters) - U.S. oil producer APA Corp (APA.O) has wound up drilling operations at the Awari well in Suriname's Block 58 as it was "deemed noncommercial", the company said on Monday. APA did not provide details on the Awari project. The company in August had abandoned the Dikkop well in Block 58 after striking water-bearing sandstones there. French energy major TotalEnergies SE (TTEF.PA) is the operator of Block 58 with a 50% working interest, while APA holds the other half. Shares of APA were down 4% at $44.70 amid broader weakness in the U.S. energy sector.
The process involves using multiple colors of high quality spray paint and paint pens. And I tell them it's spray paint, and then their head literally just explodes. When it comes to that specific style spray paint, It's a winter proof, weatherproof, everything you think of it promotes it on the side of the can. If you get a full three coat paint job from me, it's glassy, it looks like glass. So once you put it over, put the clear coat over the paint job, it's a real paint job and it looks good.
Donald Trump coined a nickname for New York's AG after she sued him: Letitia 'Peekaboo' James. Trump had already called Letitia James "racist" for months prior to her suing him, in a not-so-veiled allusion to the AG being African American. "Racist A.G. Letitia "Peekaboo" James, the failed Gubernatorial candidate," Trump called the AG in a new Truth Social post. Trump fixer-turned-critic Michael Cohen doesn't like the odds on either of the leading peekaboo nickname-origin theories, one of which is X-rated and the other of which is deeply racist. Cohen didn't think much of the X-rated theory, floated around AG circles, which references some of the more graphic definitions of "peekaboo" from Urban Dictionary.
Trump's Save America PAC released a photo showing the former president meeting with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on January 28. It added: "President Trump will always and forever be a champion for the American People." Millions of Trump supporters would likely follow Trump to a new political party — if he chose to break away from the Republican Party. Afterward, McCarthy predicted intraparty peace, saying in a statement: "President Trump committed to helping elect Republicans in the House and Senate in 2022." "President Trump has agreed to work with Leader McCarthy on helping the Republican Party to become a majority in the House."
