Often overlooked as a behind-the-scenes job, IT support offers competitive salaries, diverse opportunities and flexibility that many fail to recognize, Lisa Gevelber, a vice president at Google and founder of Grow With Google, tells CNBC Make It. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the number of IT support jobs will grow at least 15% in the next decade — more than three times faster than the average for all occupations. There are more than 300,000 unfilled IT support jobs in the U.S. right now, Gevelber points out. On Google, searches for "IT support jobs" and "IT support skills" hit an "all-time high" in 2024, since the search engine started tracking such queries 20 years ago, she adds. Here's how to land a job in IT support — and where to find the best opportunities:

That would mark the currency's weakest level on record, according to LSEG data going back to 2004. Trump had already pledged 60% or higher tariffs on Chinese goods during his election campaign. The PBOC has been supporting the value of onshore yuan by capping the daily reference rate at 7.20 on the dollar this year.

London CNN —A Banksy mural in Bristol, southwestern England, is set to be sold at auction next year, along with the building it was created on. “Well Hung Lover” was painted on the side of a building on Bristol’s Frogmore Street in 2006, with the city’s residents later voting to keep the mural. The building, which once housed a sexual health clinic, will be put up for auction by Hollis Morgan, an estate agency and auction house in Bristol. While the future owner has to ensure the “Well Hung Lover” stays put, they have no obligation to maintain it. Last year, a Banksy mural in Dover, southern England, valued at around £1 million ($1.2 million), was lost for good after the building it was painted on was knocked down.

It’s a “capital junkie” that’s been on a yearslong binge of unprecedented spending on all-electric and autonomous vehicles. Capital junkieThe latest cost-cutting cycle comes nearly a decade after an infamous Wall Street presentation by late-Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne called “Confessions of a Capital Junkie.” The April 2015 report highlighted the industry’s massive capital spending on overlapping or niche products that Marchionne was convinced could be solved through consolidation and shared capital spending. That’s shareholder money.”Most capital spending by automakers isn’t wasted, but the industry isn’t as efficient as other sectors, with minimal return on invested capital. While losing ground in China, GM has been among the most aggressive in spending on EVs and self-driving vehicles. GM and Hyundai this summer entered into an agreement to explore “future collaboration across key strategic areas” in an effort to reduce capital spending and increase efficiencies.
