"You've just dropped the World Cup," were the words attributed to Waugh after Gibbs's drop, though neither player has ever corroborated the remark. Klusener thumped fours off paceman Damien Fleming's first two balls to leave South Africa needing one run from the final four balls for a place in their maiden World Cup final. They were eliminated from their home World Cup in 2003 after miscalculating the adjusted winning target in a rain-hit match against Sri Lanka. In 2015, New Zealand batsman Grant Elliot smashed Dale Steyn for six to sink South Africa in the semi-final in Auckland. Former Australia wicketkeeper Brad Haddin said he would waste no time in bringing up South Africa's World Cup misfires if he was playing against them in Thursday's semi-final in Kolkata.

His pained voice turned to anger when he recounted encountering disbelief that Hamas committed terrible atrocities when it attacked Israel. Indeed, since Hamas did murder children and take others as hostages, should it get credit if it didn’t also behead them? But if the U.S. response after Sept. 11 is a model, it is as a model of what not to do. After the attacks, the United States received deep global sympathy. In the Middle East, the devastating aftermath of that war — justified by false claims — has never ended.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Special prosecutors are seeking to recharge actor Alec Baldwin in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of a Western movie in 2021, describing Tuesday their preparations to present new information to a grand jury. Political Cartoons View All 1211 ImagesAttorneys for Baldwin said the latest move by prosecutors is misguided. Special prosecutors initially dismissed an involuntary manslaughter charge against Baldwin in April, saying they were informed the gun might have been modified before the shooting and malfunctioned. The weapons supervisor on the movie set, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter and evidence tampering in the case. In the revived case against Baldwin, a grand jury would “determine whether probable cause exists to bind Baldwin over on criminal charges,” special prosecutors said.

Boss Masayoshi Son has been very enthusiastic about the chatbot, telling investors he uses it daily. The Japanese giant's Vision Fund is going on the offensive over AI despite some high-profile losses. The potential investment comes after boss Son told Softbank shareholders he was "chatting with ChatGPT everyday," in comments reported by Reuters . Son has also met with OpenAI boss Sam Altman in recent months, and told Softbank investors in June that he speaks to the AI startup boss "almost everyday." OpenAI and Softbank did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Insider, made outside regular US working hours.

Universal's "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" is the only movie released in 2023 to so far eclipse the $1 billion mark at the global box office. "If you would have given 10 people a release schedule at the beginning of the year and said, 'We will have just one billion-dollar movie out of all of these and can you pick which one it will be?' In years before the Covid-19 pandemic, and even last year, there were multiple megahits eclipsing $1 billion in global grosses. So far, it has generated $122.1 million at the domestic box office and $221.4 million globally. "The billion-dollar club seems to have become even more exclusive in 2023," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore.

The current bull market in stocks looks sustainable as long as the Federal Reserve doesn't mess things up. The firm highlighted that the S&P 500's 25% rally from its mid-October low has all the hallmarks of a long-term secular bull market rather than a short-term cyclical bull market. That fact favors the idea that the current bull market in stocks is more secular in nature than cyclical, according to the note. As a result, the Fed represents the biggest risk to the stock market, which is the case whether the Fed cuts or continues to raise interest rates. With interest rates sitting at more than 5%, all eyes will be on the Fed's next interest rate decision at its July FOMC meeting.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has reorganized the company into 3 core units: entertainment, ESPN, and parks. Parks' growing prominence comes as the company faces looming decisions over Iger's CEO. Travel bans "dramatically impacted" results for Disney Parks during the intense early years of the coronavirus pandemic, Heger noted, adding that parks are now generating more revenue and operating profit than they did in pre-COVID times. The parks' success is "helping to offset" losses from Disney's "DTC," or direct-to-consumer streaming business, Heger added. Josh D'Amaro, the current chairman for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, would be a likely figure appearing on any shortlist of CEO contenders.

Hassan El-Tayyab is legislative director for Middle East policy at the Friends Committee on National Legislation. By mediating the Saudi-Iran deal, China has demonstrated its ability to play a constructive role in resolving conflicts impartially, rather than relying on arms sales to keep nations in America's corner in geopolitical disputes. Created by “Atlanta” alums Donald Glover and Janine Nabers , “Swarm” is the kind of show dubbed “risky” and in which most of the risks are misfires. There are reasons why homicidal maniacs aren’t made the protagonists of seven-episode series, chief among them the fact that there’s no emotional tension in madness: The mentally imbalanced killer, like the thinly veiled Beyoncé superfan who dominates virtually every moment of “Swarm,” acts on impulses that are not just foreign to the average viewer but impenetrable. We watch, we cringe, we can’t relate, and in the end it is not just meaningless but a bloody bore.

Feb 24 (Reuters) - Producers of the Western movie 'Rust' on Friday said they had agreed to pay a $100,000 civil fine for "serious" workplace safety breaches prior to the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on a New Mexico film set in 2021. Hutchins was killed when actor Alec Baldwin fired a live round from a gun he was using during a rehearsal on a movie set outside Santa Fe. The New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Bureau did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Rust Line Producer Gabrielle Pickle told the agency on Dec. 20 Gutierrez-Reed's requests for extra armorer days were granted. Production of the movie is set to resume in the spring in Montana, RMP has said.
SANTA FE, N.M. — Prosecutors said Thursday they knew “pretty close to the beginning” of their probe into the fatal shooting of “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins that criminal charges would be filed. Prosecutors announced Thursday that Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed will each face two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Baldwin was criminally responsible as both the alleged shooter and the “Rust” producer who should have had oversight on safety, officials said. Prosecutors declined to say if they offered Baldwin a chance to plead guilty in exchange for his testimony.

Disney's "Lightyear" and "Strange World" have flopped at the box office this year. Its latest animated movie, "Strange World," opened over the Thanksgiving weekend with $18 million over the five-day holiday in the US. This year was the first real test of the pandemic era to see if Disney's animated films could attract large swaths of consumers to theaters. In 2020 and 2021, Disney's animated movies either went straight to Disney+ or received a hybrid release on streaming and in theaters. But this year, Disney's movies have typically been released in theaters for 45 days before debuting on the streaming service.
Kozo's safety tips for handling fireworks on the Fourth of July include keeping a water source handy. Here's what he told Insider:Know and obey the lawBefore you load up on fireworks, Kozo strongly recommends researching the laws pertaining to them for your specific area as they differ from state to state. In addition to injuries, fireworks also cause approximately 19,500 fires in the US annually — 28% of which are reported on Independence Day alone, according to the National Fire Protection Association. "Sparklers, which we often deem harmless and hand over to little kids to hold and wave, burn somewhere between 1200 degrees and 1800 degrees. Kozo added that 21% of reported fireworks-related injuries are caused by sparklers, and instead recommends giving children glow sticks as a safe and fun substitute.
