Hurricane Helene made landfall near Perry, Florida, as a Category 4 storm with 140 mph sustained winds and higher gusts. Hurricanes are rated 1 through 5 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale based on their wind speed. Damage is exponential as wind speed increases, meaning a strong Category 3 storm could do up to 60 times as much damage as a weak Category 1 storm. Well-built homes will be heavily damaged, with most of the roof blown away. Most well-built homes will be destroyed, and many will be stripped to the foundation.

Analysts are warning that Coinbase could be entering a down trend after the stock scored a six-day-long advance. In early trading Wednesday, Coinbase rose as much as 1.3%, paving the way for what may be its seventh straight gain. "Coinbase looks very toppy to me as the recent bounce out of the oversold condition looks to be stalling out," Wolfe Research macro strategist Rob Ginsberg told CNBC. Lau also cited muted trading volume on crypto exchanges and pressure on subscription and services revenue due to the declining interest rate outlook. But cryptocurrency "trading volume could jump" when interest rates move even lower and if bitcoin again challenges its all-time high, Lau noted.

CNN —The US is returning 297 history-spanning antiquities stolen or smuggled from India, many dating back centuries. In July, the US and India signed an agreement to protect cultural property by preventing illegal trades and streamline the process to return stolen antiquities back to India. “Prime Minister (Modi) thanked President Biden for his support in the return of these artifacts,” the India’s Ministry of External Affairs said. India has faced an uphill battle in protecting its valuable cultural treasures from looters, though it has been making headway in recent years. In 2022, the US returned 307 stolen treasures to India as part of a 15-year investigation into international trafficking networks.

Hong Kong CNN —Hong Kong aviation investigators say an engine problem that caused Cathay Pacific to ground its entire fleet of Airbus A350 jets for inspection earlier this month could have escalated into “extensive damage.”Cathay canceled dozens of flights in early September, citing the need to inspect its A350 planes after the engine issue forced a Zurich-bound flight to return to Hong Kong shortly after takeoff on September 2. The airline had previously identified an engine component failure on the affected aircraft, though it stopped short of revealing what the problem was. The AAIA recommended the European Union Aviation Safety Agency to require Rolls-Royce, the engine maker behind the popular A350 long-haul jets, to “develop continuing airworthiness information” on the problem. Following the incident, Cathay conducted a thorough inspection of its 48-strong A350 fleet and replaced components on 15 of the planes. CNN has reached out to Cathay and Rolls-Royce for comment.

Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell has apologized to bandmates and fans for “inexcusable behavior,” hours after news broke that the second half of the group’s reunion tour was being canceled after a fight broke out on stage Friday. We hope that he will find the help he needs.”Dave Navarro, left, and Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction perform at Trinity College Park in Dublin on June 28. Navarro was not the first in the Jane’s camp to suggest that Farrell was dealing with serious mental health struggles. The remainder of the reunion tour by the original lineup of Jane’s Addiction, the group’s first in 14 years, has been canceled. At that point, Farrell was seen throwing a punch at Navarro, though it wasn’t clear from the footage whether it really landed. While Dave was keeping Perry at arm’s length to de-escalate the situation, Dan rushed over to de-escalate as well by holding Perry back. Farrell sang well, Perkins crushed it behind the kit, Navarro shredded and Avery anchored the band with his steady work on bass. … However, when it came to singing the songs, Farrell nailed most of them.”The tour by Jane’s Addiction was a co-headlining one shared with another veteran ’80s/’90s band, Love & Rockets.

By 2030, the number of pets in urban China alone will almost double the number of young children across the country, according to its projection. The previously nondescript city in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong became one of China’s hottest spots for domestic tourism last year thanks to its affordable and juicy skewered meat. They’re known as “special forces travelers” because, like soldiers, they move from one checkpoint to another under incredibly tight schedules, often over weekends or short holidays. For the first half of this year, 29.22 million foreign nationals entered and exited, according to the latest figures. But the flash-mob-style approach of “special forces travelers” – switching from one community to the next – has called into question whether that type of domestic tourism is sustainable in the long term. Pan Wenbo, also from Beijing, said his favorite spots included Xi’an, home of the Terracotta Warriors, and Datong, a northern Chinese city known for ancient Buddhist architecture - both offering more affordable accommodation and food.
