As an example, he cited his inability to review ballots from the 2020 election. If the system is secure, they would have produced the paper ballots,” Favorito said. Favorito has also made connections with election officials around Georgia, some in Republican-leaning districts. Still, after Donald Trump lost the presidency, VoterGA began peddling claims that “significant evidence of fraud” existed in Georgia’s 2020 election. Favorito and VoterGA have made connections with others in the national movement that has cast doubt on the 2020 election.

Foreign investors now hold 39% of Peru's sovereign bond market holdings, the highest level across all emerging market countries. This underscores the increasingly positive sentiment surrounding the Peru's fixed income outlook. "It has recognized the need to provide international investors positive returns on domestic assets, and for central banks to be aligned with international investors and provide positive returns on domestic assets." "In some sense, the lack of a strong executive has led to better fixed income outcomes," Austerweil added. But most of all, it’s a testimony to the often-malevolent magnetism that has made Trump a historic and enduring political figure. The special counsel alleged that Trump told family members, “It doesn’t matter if you won or lost the election. As well as the federal election case, the ex-president is facing a similar one in Georgia based on racketeering statutes. The former president refused to accept the result of the 2020 election that he lost. If Trump Wins, Could He Really Use the Justice Department to Jail His Rivals? One of the most powerful appointees within the Justice Department is the director of the F.B.I., who ordinarily serves a 10-year term. Meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy for the first time in five years, former President Donald Trump complained about his 2019 impeachment and said if re-elected he would work to end the Russia-Ukraine war with a deal “that’s good for both sides." Trump said the two leaders "have a very good relationship, and I also have a very good relationship, as you know, with [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin." During the July phone call, Trump asked Zelenskyy about opening an investigation into President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. "It was a hoax, just a Democrat hoax, which we won," Trump said of the impeachment effort, with Zelenskyy standing by his side Friday. They last met in person when Trump was president, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in Sept. 2019.

CNN —Former President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet at Trump Tower on Friday morning, according to Trump, giving the Ukrainian leader the chance to make a personal pitch to a GOP presidential nominee openly skeptical of continued US security assistance for Ukraine against Russia. Still, it’s unclear whether Zelensky can say anything to convince Trump to change his position on the Russia-Ukraine war and US security assistance. Zelensky said this week that Trump doesn’t know how to end Russia’s war on Ukraine. But an in-person meeting while Zelensky, who was in town for the UN General Assembly, appeared unlikely earlier this week. “Those cities are gone, they’re gone, and we continue to give billions of dollars to a man who refused to make a deal, Zelensky.

The number of Republican women in the House has tripled to a record 36, including two nonvoting members. Others involved in the effort to boost GOP women are also hopeful they can reach a new milestone this year. The number of House candidates has dropped overall since 2022, a redistricting year that brought a surge of new candidates. The Center for Women and Politics found the steepest drop was among Republican women. For Stefanik, the effort to recruit more GOP women to run for the House has been a resounding success.

Trump may hold meetings with world leaders that his campaign does not announce in advance, explained sources close to the campaign. “While President Biden will be there, he will be there as a lame duck. Since leaving office, Trump has held regular conversations with foreign leaders. Trump's team telegraphed that he would repeatedly try to yoke Vice President Kamala Harris to Biden's unpopular record. According to ABC's official transcript, Trump mentioned Biden 14 times by name. But how Trump attacked the president encapsulated his struggles to define Harris since Biden dropped out of the race following his disastrous June debate performance. Trump couldn't even decide how to attack Harris in the context of Biden. Harris felt compelled to remind viewers that the rematch polls showed voters long loathed was in fact not happening.

CNN —Hours before former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi formally launched the first impeachment investigation into former President Donald Trump in 2019, she received a call from the subject of the probe himself. Instead, Biden’s campaign unraveled over the course of the next 24 days. It’s a high-risk, high-reward gamble for Democrats, resetting a campaign Biden was losing with a new nominee just 107 days before the election. Dunn and her husband, Bob Bauer, were among Biden’s debate prep team and had faced the ire of the president’s family in the aftermath of the debate. Several news outlets, including CNN, reported that Pelosi and former President Barack Obama had privately expressed concerns about the future of Biden’s campaign. That same day, ABC News reported that Schumer told Biden in their Saturday meeting that it would be best if he bowed out of the presidential race.

CNN —Hunter Biden on Sunday abruptly dropped a lawsuit he filed last month against Fox News over the network’s fictionalized miniseries that he alleged included sexually explicit images of him without consent. Representatives for Hunter Biden didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment on Sunday. The miniseries, “The Trial of Hunter Biden,” was a six-part offering that featured a dramatized “mock trial” about Hunter Biden’s overseas financial dealings that led, in part, to his federal tax indictment and claims that fueled House Republicans’ stalled impeachment inquiry into his father. Fox News removed the miniseries from its platforms in late April after Biden threatened to file a lawsuit. While Hunter Biden ended his lawsuit against Fox, his legal challenges continue.

Donald J. Trump’s dramatic acceptance of his party’s nomination just days after a failed assassination attempt put an exclamation point on a triumphant week for a Republican Party that emerged from its convention confident and unified. He described being saved by providence and emerging “more determined than ever” to take back the White House. The near-universal Republican embrace of Mr. Trump this week — after a deadly riot at the Capitol, an impeachment, four indictments and one criminal conviction since his last nomination — was all the more vivid because Democrats were tumbling further into turmoil over President Biden’s viability. Trump being Trump, his remarks stretched past midnight on the East Coast, shattering his own record for the longest nominating speech. But nearly every ad-lib and scripted line was gobbled up by a party that has never seemed more in his grip.

Milwaukee CNN —Donald Trump will pull off his greatest feat yet as Joe Biden confronts his darkest hour. The 45th president’s comeback will only be fully realized if he becomes the second one-term president to win a return to the White House in November. But that’s one reason why his campaign is pulling its punches on Biden in the hope he stays in the race. President Joe Biden gestures to reporters as he steps off Air Force One upon arrival at Dover Air Force Base on July 17, 2024. After Trump escaped the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, his campaign has leveraged the aftermath to reshape his image.

Rep. Adam Schiff calls on Biden to drop out of the race

CNN —Rep. Adam Schiff on Wednesday became the most prominent elected Democrat to publicly call on President Joe Biden to drop out of the race. The announcement by Schiff, who is running for US Senate in California, makes him the first Democrat to urge Biden to step aside since the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump over the weekend. Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., speaks during the House Judiciary Committee hearing on the Report of Special Counsel John Durham, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Wednesday, June 21, 2023. And in doing so, secure his legacy of leadership by allowing us to defeat Donald Trump in the upcoming election,” Schiff said in a statement. The Democratic Party remains roiled about the path forward amid fears that, in light of the debate, Biden cannot defeat Trump and he risks taking down-ballot Democrats with him in November.
