CNN —Republicans flipped the Senate, but Democratic candidates often outran the top of the ticket, winning at least four battleground states that Vice President Kamala Harris lost. Harris lost all seven swing states to President-elect Donald Trump, while her party’s Senate candidates narrowly held Wisconsin, Nevada and open seats in Michigan and Arizona. In some races, the differences between the Senate candidates’ and Harris’ performances were more pronounced among subsections of the Democratic coalition. While Trump won independents by 2 points, Rosen won the group by 6. The White House official pointed to how Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn on Saturday promised “no weekends, no breaks” to confirm Trump’s Cabinet once he took power, and the White House official encouraged Democrats to show that dedication to judges in Biden’s final stretch. “Regardless of party, the American people expect their leaders to prioritize the rule of law and ensuring the criminal justice system can function effectively in every stated,” said White House spokesperson Andrew Bates. Bomb threats sent to polling places and ballot-counting locations in at least five battleground states across the U.S. Tuesday targeted mostly Democratic counties, an NBC News analysis has found. Questions about sexual orientation, gender identity and changes to queries about race and ethnicity are on track to be asked in the most comprehensive survey of American life by 2027, U.S. Census Bureau officials said Thursday. Under the revisions, questions about race and ethnicity that previously were asked separately will be combined into a single question. Questions in English and Spanish about sexual orientation and gender identity started being tested in August with trial questionnaires sent out to several hundred-thousand households. On the sexual orientation test question, respondents can provide a write-in response if they don’t see themselves in the gay or lesbian, straight or bisexual options. The trial questionnaire also is testing “degenderizing” questions about relationships in a household by changing options like “biological son or daughter” to “biological child.”

In the hours following the presidential race being called for the Republican nominee, nearly 30,000 people and counting visited the website for Expatsi, a travel company that offers scouting trips to help Americans move abroad. 'The exit is real'LaVerne Collins, 65, was visiting Portugal on a scouting trip with Expatsi when she learned of the presidential election results. "As an African American woman, my concerns about government stability and safety is heightened," she tells CNBC Make It. "I recognized that depending on how this election would go, things could become even more unstable."
