Here are some of my best tips for saving money on a cruise. Drink packages aren't always worth the cost on cruise ships. Many people book excursions through the cruise line because the ship must wait for individuals on its excursions to return. Also consider skipping the onboard spa — I've found many services at sea can cost double what they might on land.

AdvertisementWhether you count calories or not, the unit of energy plays a role in weight loss, gain, and maintenance. AdvertisementGraeme Tomlinson , a personal trainer and fat loss coach, shared five examples of "hidden calories" in food and drink that you may not be aware of. A tablespoon of cooking oil contains around 140 calories, but using a smaller amount, about five milliliters, you can still lubricate your pan for around 45 calories, Tomlinson said. High-fat meat"The cuts of meat you regularly consume can also have a huge say on your fat loss progress," Tomlinson said. For example, 200 grams of 20% fat beef mince contains around 504 calories but the same amount at 5% contains 248 calories.

Finland was the opposite of my hometown in Bogotá, Colombia, and completely unlike my Caribbean background, where 40 degrees Celsius, beaches, and sunshine are the norm. I saw on social media that Finland was ranked one of the happiest countries in the world. Ironically, Colombia was up there on this list, but I felt I needed to experience Finland for myself. I'm sure smaller cities within Finland might not be as receptive to foreigners as the bigger cities, but they're becoming increasingly inclusive.

Nov 6 (Reuters) - Starbucks (SBUX.O) will raise the hourly pay for its U.S. retail workers by at least 3% from 2024, it said on Monday as it plans to expand its store count amid strong demand for its coffees from younger and more affluent customer base. It has about 17,000 stores in North America and its U.S. workers draw an average wage of $15 to $24 per hour and a total compensation, with benefits, of nearly $27 per hour. The company said employees with two to five years of service would be eligible for at least a 4% hike, while those with five or more years could get at least a 5% increase in pay. "Coupled with higher wages and the expansion of hours, these investments have not only resulted in lower turnover... but have also increased hourly total cash compensation by nearly 50% since fiscal year 2020," the company said in a statement. London CNN —Citibank has won an employment tribunal case brought by an analyst it sacked for claiming expenses for meals he shared with his partner, and then lying about it. I accept that the respondent requires a commitment to honesty from its employees,” employment judge Illing said in the ruling. According to a transcript of an email exchange, included in the employment tribunal ruling, after Fekete filed the expense claim, his manager asked whether he had bought all the food for himself. At the time, he also had work concerns and experienced a “lack of support” from the company, according to the analyst. Citi’s expenses policy, parts of which are detailed in the ruling, also states that employees must list all attendees whose meals they submit for reimbursement.
