Almost half of young women have at least a bachelor’s degree compared to 37% of young men. That compares to 2008, when Barack Obama won the votes of 66% of young men. One of the biggest financial pressure points for young men has been higher rents, which are up around 20% since 2020. Young men are more likely to be financially dependent on their parents compared to young women, with 74% of women describing themselves as mostly financially independent compared to 62% of young men, according to a Pew survey. I think Trump will do better with young men than among young women — the gap will be pretty significant in terms of voter support — but I don’t think Trump’s going to win an overwhelming majority.

LONDON — British employees are set to gain a slew of employment benefits under flagship legislation put forward by the new Labour government on Thursday, including stronger rights to sick pay and an entitlement to take paternity leave from the first day in a job. Workers will also be eligible to take unpaid parental or bereavement leave from day one of a job, and to claim statutory sick pay from the first day when they are unwell, rather than the fourth. Starmer said on social platform X the reforms would be the "biggest upgrade to workers' rights in a generation." It is one of the first major pieces of legislation set out by the Labour government, which took office in July. About 3.3% of high school students identify as transgender and another 2.2% have at some point questioned if they were one, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About one-quarter, 26%, of trans and questioning students attempted suicide in the past year compared with 11% of cisgender female students and 5% of cisgender male students, the CDC found. Trans students were also more likely to report being bullied at school, consistent with previous research on the subject. An estimated 40% of trans and questioning students said they were bullied at school, compared to 20.3% of cis female students and 14.8% of cis male students. Significantly more trans students and questioning students, at 10.7% and 10%, respectively, reported experiencing unstable housing in the past 30 days, compared to 1.8% of cisgender female students and 2.1% of cisgender male students.

CNN —Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific has banned two passengers from its flights after an argument over seat-reclining etiquette descended into xenophobic insults. People from Hong Kong speak mainly Cantonese, whereas mainland Chinese mainly speak Mandarin. However, Cathay, Hong Kong’s flag carrier, has got into hot water with Chinese authorities in the past. In a statement announcing the dismissals, Cathay Pacific CEO Ronald Lam said he would personally lead a task force to improve service and avoid similar incidents in the future. “We need to ensure that all Cathay Pacific employees must at all times respect customers from different backgrounds and cultures, and that we provide quality services consistently across all markets that we serve,” he said.

The only thing that felt odd or questionable was that, while there have been plenty of heterosexual reality shows, there have been so few featuring same-sex couples, and none in Japan,” casting director Taiki told Variety.
