The trip left me thinking about how backpacking compares to traveling with a carry-on suitcase. A backpack might be more convenient for flights, but suitcases are better for long travel days. AdvertisementFor my European adventure, I was able to pack lighter than ever for the longest trip I'd ever taken. By the end of it, I questioned whether a backpack was really more convenient than a carry-on suitcase. AdvertisementSo, if you're not used to carrying weight on your back and your itinerary includes long travel days, I'd consider taking a suitcase.

Before kids, I couldn't figure out why parents would buy light up shoes or character clothing for their children. I was not prepared for the joy character items bring my daughterMy daughter loves clothes and gets excited when any new item gets delivered. It's why I subsequently sought out an Ariel bathing suit because I knew it would make her over the moon.

It was back in April 2022 when I booked a room on one of the largest cruise ships in the world, Royal Caribbean's 18-deck Wonder of the Seas. Higher decks in the middle of the ship feel calmer and more stable, they said. Some cruise ship cabins can be rockier than others, like those situated at the front of the shipThe author's room was at the front of the ship. Joey Hadden/Business InsiderCruise passengers prone to motion sickness should book a room in the middle of the ship to feel the least amount of rocking. I wish I'd researched how the location of a cabin can affect the amount of motion you feel while the ship is moving before booking my cruise.

During my three-day visit in August, I stayed at a tiny home by Tiny Away for one night. AdvertisementLaunched by a Singaporean tiny home startup called Big Tiny in May 2023, Tiny Away features five tiny houses that measure around 139 square feet each — or slightly smaller than an average parking space. Tiny Away is currently the only option for those who want to try tiny house living without going abroad. For one, there's a glamping resort on Lazarus Island that offers stays for a similar price to Tiny Away. But Tiny Away strikes me as ideal for guests looking for some solitude or a chance to experience the city-state minus all the high rises.

While I would not classify myself as a hoarder, I have trouble letting go of things, objects, and memorabilia. With the decline in income, I was forced to reevaluate the space. Although I loved my little white house, I also needed to figure out how to make it more enticing to others. However, as New Yorkers have started to summer in Europe again, getting people to rent in the country has been cumbersome. The author's photographer helped her stage her home.

I wanted my kids to know our new setup was not one to take for granted. The author moved with her three kids to a hotel room. But I also know they know this is not forever. I don't know when we are moving out exactly and I certainly don't know where we are going (or how I am affording it). A view of the pool complex from the author's balcony. Joey Hadden/Business InsiderA pair of sliding glass doors at the back of the room led to my private, furnished balcony. From there, I could see the resort's pool complex, made up of five pools. The Phoenician has even more activities I couldn't see from my terrace, like a sports complex, a cactus garden, and award-winning restaurants. After one night at the Phoenician, I thought I could have stayed for at least a week without getting bored.

My next home was in Seoul, for two years, followed by a decade in Hong Kong — the one place I truly felt at home. Prepare for a new high-volatility market regime
  + stars: | 2024-08-05 | by ( Katie Stockton | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +8 min
A spike in the VIX of this magnitude has not occurred since 2020, when the COVID-19 related decline in the S & P 500 was maturing. We believe another high-volatility regime is upon us, with the prolonged low-volatility regime that preceded it coming to an abrupt halt. If our long-term trend following measures were to deteriorate behind the S & P 500, we would be more inclined to reduce exposure. A rebound in the S & P 500 (i.e., a VIX pullback) can be used to hedge partial exposure from a top-down perspective. You only need to save my phone number," the AI responded in Spanish — before sharing my phone number. Someone in this WhatsApp group had asked Meta AI for its phone number — and again it shared my number. It had replied that it did, and Maxi simply had to message a phone number — my phone number — to access the content. Since I asked Meta's communications team for help, I haven't received any more messages from people looking for Meta AI. Another time, Meta AI said it didn't have a phone number (it actually does, +1 313-555-0002, although it doesn't advertise it publicly).
